Scrubs.
The Simpsons.
Futurama.
Desde Gayola/Válvula de escape (mexican, cancelled because of stupidity).
There used to be a show called "Wonderfalls", it was awesome, it's a shame they only recorded 13 episodes because of the lack of audience... I'm starting to think Jay was an aspie, heh. Also, "Dead Like Me" was awesome, I think the same guy directed them or something, but it wasn't the classical american humor that is just stupid (most of it).
I didn't care for Friends because they talked about sex too much and I found that embarrassing. That also knocks out shows such as Will & Grace and Dharma & Greg.
Dharma & Greg has a reputation for being one of the worst shows ever, though I didn't think it was quite as bad as it's sometimes made out to be.
I found "Will & Grace" just out-and-out offensive. I never cared for "Friends" either, but I liked "Coupling," at least until Jeff left (that was also the series that ended up censored in the US thanks to the Janet Jackson fiasco, so some annoyance there as well).
There was an American "Coupling" for a brief time. The less said about it, the better.
I used to like some US sitcoms eg. "Alf", "Small Wonder", and the early series of "The Cosby Show".
So you're the one who watched "Small Wonder".
Now there was a real love-it-or-hate-it kind of program.
"The Cosby Show" wasn't bad, but "The Simpsons" easily pulled me away (there was a big rivalry at the time). Cosby's next program was "Cosby," a retread of "One Foot in the Grave." It wasn't so good.
"Fresh Prince" got stale for me really fast.
I kind of liked "Fresh Prince," mainly because it was one of the rare shows about black people on at the time that didn't make me cringe. It was frequently criticized for not being "black enough."
"M.A.S.H" (not exactly a sitcom though).
MASH was run in the US with a laugh-track. 'Nuff said.
My list? It's not comprehensive and is in no particular order, but, in the US:
Just about anything from that Williams/Adult Swim bunch (Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Assy McGee, etc., etc.)
Futurama
Family Guy
The Simpsons (until it just got really really old).
Reno 911 (the most realistic cop show in years
)
Police Squad
Seinfeld (Only after it was in syndication. The plotlines seemed to play out better for me without the weeklong wait between episodes.)
From the other side of the pond there's:
Father Ted
Blackadder
Coupling
Up Pompeii (I know, but somehow I've recently found a new appreciation for Frankie Howerd)
Monty Python
Red Dwarf
Vicar of Dibley (interestingly, Dawn French's Vicar was my least favorite character)
Shows I used to like, but have just plain grown tired of:
Are You Being Served
Keeping up Appearances
Fawlty Towers (the Eine Kleine Nachtmusik of British comedy)
Those are the PBS Big Three and have been repeated ad nauseum.
Finally, I'll say it right here and now: I found "The Office" utterly unwatchable.
M.A.S.H. had a longer running time than the real Korean War?
Heck, sometimes it felt like it had a longer running time than the Hundred Years' War.
I like "My Hero", which used to be on UK TV but now it isn't. Bummer.
"My Hero" almost made my list. It wasn't great, but Ardal O'Hanlon was characteristically brilliant. Losing him just killed it (no disrespect meant to James Dreyfus, but...)
I thought Lou Hirsch had his moments as well, but that might just be because he's one of only two non-Canadian American actors working that side of the Atlantic who immediately springs to mind (the other being, of course, the lovely Lorelei King)...though John Barrowman probably deserves an honorable mention.
...And that Fawlty Towers ran for only 12 episodes?
Oh, yeah, and Connie Booth (who, according to IMDb, is a North London psychotherapist now; if that's not a good excuse for seeking professional help, I don't know what is).
Looking back, I see I missed "South Park." I know I said the list wasn't comprehensive, but that was unforgivable.
I live in the Uk so I tend to like British Comedy / Sitcoms. Here's my top 5:
1. Fawlty Towers
2. Little Britain
3. The Vicar Of Dibley
4. Absolutely Fabulous
5. Dad's Army
I hate "Ill and Disgrace" and note that the last episode is supposed to be screening soon. Too bad they didn't kill off this dismal series after the first couple of episodes. This is the kind of show that gives mediocrity a bad name.
I also loved watching "Wayne & Shuster" and "You Can't Do That On Television".
I also loved [...] "You Can't Do That On Television".
That brings back memories!

Oh, "You Can't Do That on Television"! I loved that one...especially the sliming whenever the phrase "I don't know" was uttered; somehow that never got old.
Presently my top 5 favorite comedies (not counting stand-up) are:
1. South Park
2. Monty Python's Flying Circus
3. Waiting For God
4. The Simpsons
5. Mystery Science Theater 3000

Hello,
1. Arrested Development (off the air… no!!!!!!)

I don't know if I can just list five...
1. Futurama (damn FOX to hell for cancelling it)
2. Jackass (I don't know why, but nothing makes me laugh more than this show)
3. South Park (seasons 1-5 mainly, I don't watch much of the new stuff)
4. The Simpsons (particularly the older seasons, just classic)
5. Arrested Development (sort of reminds me of my family only with less money)
6. Family Guy (I didn't like it when it was first on in the late '90s, but I have to admit this show has some balls)
7. America's Funniest Home Videos (it just makes me laugh, and I like laughing)
Any other Australians remember Funky Squad?
Yay Funky Squad!!!!
I love so much of what those people did, especially The Late Show (Go Bargearse!) Frontline, The Castle, and The Dish.
"Let us face Launceston and Pray.
Legend. Legend. Dead set legend.
