Anyone here (AFF) interested in the paranormal or psychic abilities,
Has anyone here mastered any of the common (Well Known) psychic abilities?

I, myself, am mostly interested (Obsessed actually!! ) in Telekinesis and Telepathy. I meditate daily (An hour before sleep usually.), I consider psychic abilities similar to any other mental ability (Such as Algebra, computer programming, etc.), I believe that practice / repetition can get someone any ability / power that they want.

Also, to my knowledge, nothing about this topic has been discussed in the Interests section.

Another reason I created this post is because the people around me disdain my opinions (About Psychic abilities / Paranormal) and either make out that "I lack intelligence" ,am some sort of psychopath / insane OR that I'm evil and practice "Satan's work".

My mother thinks I turned out "Wrong" since I believe in psychic abilities (My family are all down to earth, Employment = Everything kind of people.). My friends are more "Macho", Approval from others kind of people (and feel my point of views are childish OR threatening to their 'Tough / Superior' Image? :? ).

These people are quite Blunt about what they think about my beliefs.

Well anyway,
Are their any Psychics or Psions on AFF?

Rockbabydoll,

I looked at your webpage and alot of the opinions remindered me of David Icke's work. (You and anyone else interested, can download his books using KaZaA, Limewire, Emule, and probably other P2P Programs.)

The books I've read of his include:
# The Biggest Secret: Alot of stuff about Famous people (Such as Presidents, Royalty, etc.) , and the things that happen behind the scenes.
# The Robot's Rebellion: Explores how Politics (and related disciplines) affect people on spiritual levels (Among other levels) and also the advantages of being a Rebel or Non-conformist.
# I am Me and I am Free: My favourite book by him. It is about the power of the human spirit and how it is BEYOND the influence and control of others.

An interesting website regarding Spiritual / Political Beliefs among other articles that should be taken seriously:
# http://illuminati-news.com/ (Includes 4 'Doors' - Different Links to archives; Door names include; A = Illuminati News Website, B = UFO's and Aliens, C = Rock & Roll & Mind Control, D = On Spirituality
and Spiritual Solutions)
I believe and I even sometimes do.  I have had some freaky experiences that cannot be explained by science.
I'm not using 100% of my computer right now either - if I was then every single transistor in the CPU would be on at the same time and my computer would be ruined. Same thing with the brain - if every neuron fired at once you'd be having seizures and end up dead.

The brain would naturally have to be involved with psychic abilities if they are real as otherwise there would be no way to perceive them.

Stay away from psychic things. They are not interesting. Not fun. Not worth investigating!
Having a Grandfather who whilst suffering the inhumanity of the death-throws of cancer (who being a dementia sufferer for 12 months and whacked out of his head on morphine 24/7 for 2 months) suddenly have a lucid and cohernt and touching conversation with you is not nice. I told that skeletal man it was OK to die and that we were very proud of him and that he had fought so very hard and it was time to rest. He in turn told me he could live without the amount of pain he was experiencing but he was waiting for his daughter (my Dad little sister) to arrive. I told him when this would be. He thanked me before becoming lkike he'd been before. My father didn't believe me 'til I told him his exact words. Incidentially Keiran arrive that night and he passed away about half an hour later.
My granduncle the same. Septicimia as well as cancer in the lungs. Morphine but no Dementia. I "helped" fight off the snakes and spiders" that "threatened" him. He finally asked whether his wife - my Aunty Nell would be OK (He had always looked after her finances and practically everything). As it ended up reassurances were false she was dead in 12 months.
FINALLY. LOL. After cutting ties from my family after a big family row. My "Aunty" (Dad's Black sheep cousin) Sue stuck by me and my ex-wife. One morning I got out of bed and asked when Sue was due to visit next. (She visited irregularly - but generally every 1 - 2 weeks to check up on us kids) I became increasingly more anxious all day and into the night about her. My ex tried to call her a many times to placate me. No answer. The next night it felt like I had a once a burden lifted off my shoulders but at the same time in replace of the anxiety was a deep depression.
When Annemarie asked me if I wanted to try phoning I said I didn't want to and it didn't matter.
I found out that night varicouse veins in her throat had burst and she'd been dying at Aunty Nell's (not her place as we'd been trying) and had died the next morning. When the depression set in.
OK I have had a couple of other weird psychic things not related to death happen but I say I am happy with logic, reason and rationality. I don't care about 6th sense. You want it you have it!

This media darling has been around for at least a century. Fortunately, it's just not true. MRI imaging clearly demonstrates—with fancy colors no less—that humans put most of their cerebral cortex to good use, even while dozing.

I found this on a list of The Most Popular Myths in Science.

Also, I see what I call "molecules", because I don't know what else to call them.  Nothing but fire looks solid to me, everything appears to be made up of tiny, faintly glowing dots.  Anyone remember that painting Cameron was staring at in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", the one that showed a park scene from a distance, but up close was just a mass of colored blots?

Well, that's how the world looks to me.  I'm near-sighted, but no eye doctor has ever been able to find any other problem with my eyes.  It's odd.

I see those, too!

I used to think that I was somehow able to see atoms; of course, they're way too big to be that, but that's still how I think of them. I have odd amoeba-like blobs of bright color that float across my field of vision on occasion, too. I don't use drugs except for caffiene, perscription medications, and, rarely, alcohol, and though I'm pretty astigmatic, I see these things with my glasses on as well.

So...it's a bit strange, isn't it?

Athlynne Wrote:
<shriek>  Someone else sees the amoebas!  They look like something you'd see under a microscope, don't they?  For me, they glow too, but I can't describe the color.

Yeah! I usually don't mention them to other people, since they can't see them and generally think I'm either feverish or making things up. They don't really interfere much with my eyesight, though, and I know they're not "real", so I don't get too worried about them.

I used to have these dreams where I could see the near future.

That was a long time ago, though.
I tend to think that what gets classified as "paranormal" is some conglomeration of:

1.  Things that actually have other explanations, but can look "paranormal".  (A lot of my perceptual and pattern-matching abilities can look "psychic" at times to someone who doesn't know how I process information, for instance, if I manage to perceive something they didn't.  Same with how animals do it.)

2.  Things that actually are... I hesitate to use the word "paranormal", but certainly outside of what most people in materialist (I mean "matter" not "liking money and possessions" there) cultures consider the physical world to be.  These things may not however be the same as they are painted by a lot of popular-culture references to them, and just because a person perceives them does not mean the person understands them.

3.  Assorted nonsensical theories about the world (usually quite elaborate but having little to nothing to do with reality).

4.  Self-delusion.

And #3 and #4 by far outnumber #2, which leads a lot of people to either believe #2 can't exist, or to constantly think that #3 and #4 (and possibly also #1) are #2.  Which is one reason why I don't have any particular interest in "the paranormal" as a subject, because most of what's published about it falls into the realm of #1, #3, and #4, with a heavy emphasis on #3 and #4.
This is something I have significant interest in (was one of my biggest perseverations for a number of years, right along with astronomy - not astrology BTW - and math and film).

I don't seem to have any psychic ability that would amount to anything more than coincidences, but I have experienced a few unusual things.

When I was completing my AP European History assignment a couple years ago, I was kind of bored and couldn't think of what I was going to write for this essay outline (I have a real difficulty with outlining essays; it usually hinders me). I was sitting at the computer screen, when I heard this sort of a 'POP' sound behind me. I looked behind me, and at the lamp, which was about five or six feet to the top of it. The lamp shade was slanted, swinging.

I looked around it immediately, looking to see if maybe a rat had got to it to make it swing, and I called my parents in from the other room (always good to have another set or two of eyes to check misinterpretation and the possibility of hallucinations explaining it). So they were in there, and as I was explaining what had happened, the lamp shade jumped up, high enough that it got above the light bulb.

Oh, yeah, and when I was eight, in my room which I shared with my two older sisters, there was this shadowy figure in the corner for two weeks that I kept trying to find out what would be causing that shadow. My family got very irritated when I insisted upon removing everything in the room to see what was causing it. It was STILL there. My sisters the whole time said that they saw it, but that it wasn't anything unusual, just a regular shadow. It was very frustrating, and the shadow for the first week I was very afraid, but when I started trying to communicate and wasn't afraid anymore of it, it went away.
I think that, if humans don't find a way to explain paranormal happenings by science (there are very many kinds of paranormal phenomena, so this could take awhile), that there is the capability and possibility. The Holographic Universe is an interesting book (was it Michael Talbot who wrote it?), and there are others I can't think of right now, which propose that some paranormal phenomena might be explained by new theories (both those in existence and yet to come) on the cutting edge of science, such as advances in quantum mechanics and superstring theory. Of course, for scientific explanations, we'll have to wait and see. Until then, it's a very fascinating exercise of the mind (especially for those who experience it first-hand!)

I never heard of so many people with psychic abilities or paranormal experiences.

I'm NT, 54, a Pisces, very sensitive mentally, emotionally, physically, but still very NT and social, gregarious even, though I test as an introvert. Also "feel" very spiritual, feel I've reincarnated many times which is not unusual since we are nearly all old, old souls, all of us.  Father was a scientist so I didn't pay attention to my intuition in a big way til about age 30. Also raised to be VERY logical, rational, etc. Here are my experiences. Father and family believe in God, though:

1. lucid dreams- dream while somewhat, but clearly (but not completely) awake sometimes which is a sign that you are on the "spiritual path" or getting close!

2. Can feel the presence of, and once heard, a ghost talk to me (one word only in Salem, MA!! ironic Smile), but can't see ghosts (or haven't yet).

3. Have had only one out of body experience (s((*!!- want MORE!!!). It was incredible. I've never felt such peace.

4. Can vaguely see people's auras ONLY right before they die. I know, weird, but has happened to me twice. First guy died two days after I saw his fading aura.

5. One possible past life dream in full period dress. Dream took place in a small town in upstate NY which coincides with a psychic's relating that my last life WAS in New York.

6. Can mind read on occasion and used to be more psychic when younger. Would know useless stuff like a person was from Ohio or had two siblings before they opened their mouth, etc.

7. One supernatural experience (the air was electric and sparkly or something) when about 15 at a spiritual retreat.

8. Pretty sure I have made contact with my spirit guide. I told him to knock on my bedpost and he did! Fantastic! I have since thanked him for such long, dedicated service!

9. The vibes emanating from the vortexes in Sedona and elsewhere on earth ARE real and powerful.

Musings:

Stay away from oiuja boards or however you spell that. Dangerous. Bad spirits ARE attracted to them and will f**&jk with you. Don't bother with trying to artificially leave your body either- also dangerous.

Don't wear used clothing unless the wearer was spiritual and maybe not even then! Metal holds the strongest impressions, though.

Before making decisions consult with your heart first, then your mind.

God alone is real and will NEVER be understood by the human mind. God is BEYOND mind, so people who haven't had paranormal experiences should not judge or downplay them or state uncategorically that they don't exist. They do. Some are tricks of our imagination, but many are not.

Our dead relatives frequently try to get our attention by moving things in a room, esp. pictures (askew).

That said, the paranormal is fun, but is not real either. The world is not real- God alone is real, that Christ (Christ in the sense of the "Godman") conscious is the only reality- we just get glimpses of it sometimes.

Good thread.

PS To the original poster, I suggest reading Listen Humanity by Don Stevens, The Autobiography of a Yogi, books by Gurdjieff, God Speaks by Avatar Meher Baba.....

Wow, I think that is great & you give good advice, I wouldn't touch a oiuja board with a barge pole!!
I don't go looking for things they just happen.

How does anyone know that they haven't seen a ghost? I'm not frightened of the thought of them, but it seems to me that if they do exist anyone could walk past one in a busy street & not know.

Oh well my Aunt got thrown across a bare room once ;p my Uncle witnessed it lol.

Exactly what I said bad girl Tongue
My cat does something like that--he sleeps on my bed, and if I wake up in the middle of the night, he'll realize I'm awake(even if I don't move) and start licking my face. My theory is that he can detect an increase in heart/breathing rate or muscle tone or something that tells him I'm awake.
