prefabs and static homes would still be cheaper
From wikipedia.

"In the United Kingdom the word "Prefab" is often associated with a specific type of prefabricated house built in large numbers during the Second World War as a temporary replacement for housing that had been destroyed by bombs, particularly in London. Despite the intention that these dwellings would be a strictly temporary measure, many remained inhabited for years and even decades after the end of the war. A small number are still in use well into the 21st Century."
I have noticed recently at our local showgrounds lots of "half houses". Yesterday, I saw one of these "halves" being transported into the showgrounds on the back of a large truck.

They seem a good idea and when put together, would make quite a decent sized house. I don't know how the price compares with regular homes but it would probably be cheaper as these are prefabricated and then transported to the people's land rather than being built in situ.
ah, thank you for bringing this thread back to light...
Housing is certainly a very important thing to consider and something low cost but still attractive looking is to my mind, a real must. Smile
I like the idea of the caravans(trailers) there's a great place called crowhurst park where social services bought a caravan for use by those in care. the only problem in crowhurst is they frown upon people living there and they close in the winter til april, but otherwise the caravan (otherwise known as suzie) is great!
