"Millions of parents"
"Parents need to be aware"
"Weapon against autism"
interesting target market here... no mention of us, just parents.
<rant>
Ever wondered where the people running charities get money? the people donating. I do not have a reference for this, but I am pretty sure the guy who founded greenpeace is a very rich man. Also, charities will distort facts for thier own purposes. Greenpeace states on thier website that 20% of the world's oxygen comes from the amazon rainforest. It's a well accepted fact that about 90% of the world's oxygen comes from algae. Do the math.
So, In a world where autistic adults usually have lower-paying jobs that NTs, and autistic children don't have much money to speak of, who's the most profitable market? parents. they're the ones with the cash. They just need to be coerced into giving it up. So, one of the most effective propaganda techniques out there is fear. make them afraid that thier child will be an emotionless robot with no chance in life, and that they will have to change thier child's daipers for 40 years until they die. In addition, one of the most effective ways to get into someone's head is via thier children. so, make them fear for thier children's safety.
It isn't autism awareness day, or an autism awareness campaign, it's a Charity awareness campaign, and a fear campaign. they don't need autistic people to be better understood in society, they want money, so they can fund and push thier "therapies" and prenatal tests, for which they will command as much money as they can get. Some of the money will make it to people who need it, but more of it's going into research. research for products they can sell. it's analogous to a young Bill Gates asking for funds to "improve software quality", then profiting from the software himself (I doubt he did, but analogies don't have to be true, they just have to give perspective)

also, I'd say to mail the company that made the ads, and request them to make them aknowledge the greater autistic community.
