I have met many amazing NT's as well as many really pathetic NT's.... but then again i try to include myself into people who are very accepting and loving and such... i've lived in my own little bubble for a long time, and i am happy to stay here with my bubble of friendly NT's... as it turns out, when i leave my bubble i get hurt! :fire:
the neurotypical psyche has constants for proximity, annoyance, priority, and state of mind. it is as heavily systemic as the autistic psyche is claimed to be.
in my case, (i am aspy)
within my psyche,
constants appear self-regulated by incident.
i carefully observe my internal thoughtstream from day to day,
in order to better understand the main component and to see how self-upgrade or self-synching is possible and how it is carried out.
Person1: I'm so annoyed, I went shopping and some NTs harrassed me and tripped me up then laughed. Ugh! I hate NTs.
Person2: Hey, you make me sick, my parents are NTs and are lovely.
Proper way to continue that conversation:
Person1: Hey **** you, as if I was talking about your parents?!
Person2: You said you hate NT's!
Person1: Oh for ****'s sake shut the **** up am I supposed to say "ALMOST" as a prefix for everything I say?! You can be such a **** sometimes!
Person2: You ******* *******!
Person1: Shut the **** up you ******* ****!!!
Person2: I love you.
Person1: **** you.
Person2: No, really, you're a great guy.
Person1: Well duh, Captain Obvious.
Person2: *laughter*
Person1: *laughter*
(Should they react otherwise like leaving or crying, you can tell others they were just being oversensitive)
Amazing how overwhelming aggressiveness is somehow soothing to an NT? I've used this many times and it works almost always. You get away with an insult by insulting them further to the point of sarcasm. (You said in the first remark that you were annoyed. This gives you the right to overreact because they KNOW you are annoyed, and they might agitate you more by saying something sarcastic like "Hey my parents are NT and they're not like that!") And then they just laugh it off. I don't raise myself above "NT's" (ants?) I rather study them like a cover operation scientist.
I don't agree with the idea that NTs in general are all the same. Trend whores are trend whores. You can find
those at
http://www.myspace.com ...
You can find the loud, obnoxious Saturday-night drinkers down the pub on a Saturday night. The chavs are at the bus-stop in town. The people who volunteer at the charity shop are behind the till in the charity shop, and the people who choose to dress a little differently are buying a £20 fedora off ebay right now.
And then, there's are a few people born on the Autistic spectrum, who haven't had a good oppertunity to grasp the sheer depth of the average 'normal' human being because the traits of their 'condition' hasn't made it easy for them to do so. In my opinion it would be hypocritical to spread an elitist pro-Autism message on AFF, a site dedicated to promoting total equality between Aspies and 'NT's.
For me, NTs, as a group, are just a bunch of alcoholic pawns who don't know...
[rest of screed trimmed].
So, you respond to intolerance and bigotry by choosing to indulge yourself in intolerance and bigotry.;
and i work with NTs, which escape the definition i gave by their generosity, their culture, their open-mindedness.
So, you're saying that you believe that blacks/Jews/whatever are all inferior except for a few "good" blacks/Jews/whatever.
Person1: I'm so annoyed, I went shopping and some NTs harrassed me and tripped me up then laughed. Ugh! I hate NTs.
Here's how that sounds to me:: I'm so annoyed, I went shopping and some blacks harrassed me and tripped me up then laughed. Ugh! I hate blacks.
Bigotry is bigotry, regardless of its target.
well I don't want to get Amy mad at me, but as you know Dogface you've been involved with a little bigotry of your own. Hypocrite.
I've had as many "weight issues" as anyone else--more than many, but I never deluded myself into thinking that, just because I didn't happen to be diagnosed with a physical disorder, that exercise was unnecessary for me.
Hypocrisy is overrated. If I smoke 3 packs of cigarettes a day, and I tell you you shouldn't smoke because it's bad for you, would it be any less true?
