I'm curious if any of you have seen the movie The Phantom Tollbooth. It was animated by Chuck Jones. It seems the movie was underrated or something, and now it's hard to find a copy outside of Ebay.

It's really a shame, because the book was written by someone who seems to be Aspie, Norton Juster. In fact he was so Aspie, that he didn't like the movie because it wasn't as serious as the book. Too much Looney Tunes type humor, I guess.

I'm curious because it seems I'm the only person I know who's heard of or seen the film version of the book. They have so many clever plays on words and the like.
I have seen the film and really liked it, I have also read the book.

I would agree with the seeming aspie-type thinking behind it.
I have read and seen that movie when I was in elementary school.
Cool! So what's your favorite part of the movie? I like when the Spelling Bee is on the dinner table at Wordopolis, and he's mumbling about how the Humbug called him names, and is stalking across the table planning to sting the Humbug. As well as the Overbearing Know-It-All demon of the demons guarding the Castle in the Air.

I also like how the film does use alot of the classic voice actors/actresses from Looney Tunes. Most noteably the Which, her voice is Granny's voice from some of the Sylvester & Tweety cartoons. The monster of Insecurity, I forgot if that's the right name. It's like a little red puff, is Yosemite Sam's voice.

The ending music is really impressive, I think that's the most remarkable aspect of the film. It's a shame a soundtrack wasn't released, I'd download the soundtrack to my Ipod.

I also thought, if this movie was made today. It would be funny if when they discuss The Terrible Trivium, that he would hand one of the characters a parody of video games. Like, the TriviumBoy, or something like that..since NTs see video games as being a trivial pursuit.
Have read the book many times over in the past 12 years (creapy part, I'm only 16.Sad part, I did nto know that was odd until recently).  How could I have not known there was a movie.  Must find copy of movie, and if good must force orchestra to watch it next school year and beg directro seinior year to play song from movie.
