I call dibs on the name 'Doctor Inepto'. My special power is to conjure up embarassed silences out of thin air. I can also drive NTs permanently insane by drumming my fingers on my desk all day.

All of you who've seen the movie, DID YOU STAY until the very end, after the credits?  There was a sneaky little bit right after they'd finished rolling, which is pretty cool.  We always watch the credits because Lauren always says that all those people who make the movie need to be respected.  But the cinema nearly emptied as the credits were rolling, and only a few die-hard fans like us stayed until the very end.  I wonder how many people world-wide aren't aware that they missed it?  The same thing happened in Shrek 2, as well - the kids in my preschool class didn't know that Donkey's Dragon had given birth to little Donkey/Dragon hybrids and brought them to see him after the credits started to roll.  Apparently most parents just get up and walk out once they believe the movie is finished.

Wow, I should as a half euro back now I know I've been scammed.

I really liked x-men 3; of course, having heard all the aspie hype about it, I was watching it with the idea of it being a metaphor for our predicament firmly entrenched in my mind, and I'm sure that affected my interpretation of events.

I thought it was great, though, showing the mindset of people on all sides of the argument, how they were all doing what they thought was best for everyone, not just being evil as is so often the case with the villains in superhero stories.

There really is an astonishing similarity between the movie and some of the things we fear might be in our future- and even the things in our present!
In the advent of the XMEN comics, the sales were initially low among mainstream readers, but they eventually picked up.

When a study was performed on the people that read the comics, they discovered that most of the readers were from oppressed or misunderstood minorities (Racial, Ability, Political, ETC).

The comics were gradually adapted to capitolise on this, with the idea of the mutants being cast out by society gradually becoming the primary theme of the comics.

So relating the XMEN to aspies is more than understandable, we were meant to draw that conclusion.

P.S. My aspie mutant would have the power to stop time, so he could take a breather, figure out exactly what needs to be done, and then can do it with only a seconds thought, would give the NT mutants a run for their money.

P.P.S. The characters of Wolverine, Rogue, Magneto and Nightcrawler could all be said to be Aspies themselves, as they all show some of the characteristics.

Wolverine is the stereotypical loner, prone to anger and depression, as well as bieng generally misunderstood by his peers.

Rogue is a classic aversional, even her mutant power isolates her from human contact.

Magneto has the all or nothing take on life, either mutants are the dominant species, or humans are, it cant be a combination.

Nightcrawler is a true obsessive, scarring himself for every sin he commits, a perfectionist, and seen to be egotistical by the others.

Something to think about.

X-Men? Not quite. Mutants denote an evolutionary change, an advance of the HomoSapien species.

Since when?  How remarkably ignorant to make such a claim.  Evolution is NOT "advance", no matter how much know-nothing "science" popularizers might pretend it is.

You, the aspies are nothing but a genetic disorder. A G that was supposed to a C.

Prove it.  Cite the specific evidence.  Show me the linkage studies.  Where is this C to G polymorphism documented?  Go ahead, prove that you're not just an ignorant blow-hard.

Don't worry, I'm probably far more able to make it through the professional literature than you are.

mrgrosser seems to have a problem dealing with people appropriately,  appears to have a one track and obstinate mind.

He also appears to  crack under stress and become aggressive in a foreign environment

I believe he has undiagnosed Asperger's syndrome.

I can take pictures easily, look people in the eye and unlike mrgrosser t be polite.

And just in case anyone mentions contributing to society, I'm close to finishing training in Accountancy and I can communciate in four languages, one fluently and one at standard conversational learner level

And its that kind of mentality that makes you just another weakness in human genetics.

What kind of mentality?  You have proven, rather well, that you are supremely ignorant of fundamental genetics of Aspergers or the nervous system in general.  I, on the other hand, have over a decade of experience in biomedical and related research.  Therefore, it is only rational to conclude that I am far more competent at evaluating said research and its tools than are you.

So, cite the journals to back up your contentions.  Show me the science.  Failure to do so will only prove that you are a thoroughly inferior individual, ignorant, uneducated, and incapable of rational thought.  Here, let me help you with your entire future.  Memorize the following statement, it will be the cornerstone of your career:

"Would you like to supersize your Value Meal?"

You are a disorder, a disease, maybe when one of you can look a person in the eye, take a picture without staring off at the ground, learn to shut up when it isn't your place to talk, we can talk evolutionary change.

You are the disease, that much is obvious.  Bigotry is a disease.  Intolerance is a disease.  Narrow-mindedness and ignorance are diseases.

I have met thousands of normies in my lifetime. I could count the decent ones on one hand.

I was about to answer that by saying that I'd have to use two, but realised... that person's ADHD, that person is too... that person't definately not normal anyway...

I think I have to agree with you on that one...

I've also met thousands of normies and have to say that I've met good and bad in equal measure. But then, everyone's experiences are different.

So keep your idle threats to yourself, the breaking of limbs, the ripping off of an arm or whatever. I came here to help learn what it is to have AS so I can better deal with this child, and from what I've seen, his fate is already sealed.

You have just proven that you are an unfit parent and quite likely going to inflict a life of child abuse and neglect upon your child.  Turn this child over to someone else.  You are not fit to give care.

He did not come here to help himself learn what is is like to have AS, he came here to try and find something with which to justify his behaviour.

Interestingly enough, a worldwide campaign has recently been laucnhed to stop the beating of over a billion children in classrooms physical coercion and to ban it to the dark ages. I hope it caches up wiht him very soon.

 Like you, mrgrosser, and everyone else, I am a unique collection of A,G,C,T. Why do you feel such a need to insult? Leave your "nothing but"s and "supposed to". You have taken what started as a good and interesting thread and turned it into a string of stupidity. You want to heave insults around? Fine, but I bet there are people here who could go one up on YOU.

The idea behind the X-men mutants is to explore notions of prejudice and misunderstanding. Everyone feels at some point that they are a part of a misunderstood minority, and this is why so many people can relate. Especially teenagers.
