I get it from my brother all the time: "You should shave your head you looked your age when you were bald in the army."
And some people still call me "boy".
Oh and I'm 21.

I'm 31 and I frequently get asked "Are you a student?"

I've always been told that I look young for my age and I've met several people with AS since I was diagnosed with it three years ago and they frequently look younger than their years too.
Could it be that because we use our facial muscles less to communicate we develope facial lines to a lesser extent?
Any opinions!

I'm 40 and look 20ish, though nerdy... I have unstyled long hair that I wear in a bun most of the time, I wear geeky glasses (& don't care), I wear no makeup or jewelry, I dress plainly, I have very young skin (adolescent, actually!), I don't drink, drug, sunbathe or smoke, I am plump & a bit spacey-looking, and I see women younger than I who look older than I do. Aside from "young" genes & the absence of vices, I think I look young because of my complete lack of sophistication! But it's an odd, frumpy kind of young look; somebody told me, when I was around 30, that I could pass for any age from 16-45. I look like somebody who's never grown up! I can live with it.

I'm soon to be 56--people typically guess early 40s.
Last time I got carded (asked for ID to prove I was over 21) was on a job interview (I was *trying* to look grown up and respectable)--I was 37!

I like this idea. The ultimate wrinkle reducing lifestyle: don't change facial expressions!

It's like having built-in Botox!

People always, always think I'm much younger than I am. I'm not sure about the "people who know I have AS" because not many people know, and those who do have known me long enough that they know my age, even though they say I look young for my age.
People say I should take it as a compliment. Here's my point of view: If I were in my 30's and someone thought I was in my 20's, that might be a compliment (I don't see why people try to lie about their age, though, so it wouldn't be a huge compliment). However, I'm in my 20's and people think I'm a teenager. I gradutaed high school 9 years ago and hated my teen years. That is not a compliment.

When I was in my final year at university I was asked a few times if I was a fresher.

Elderly people think I'm still in high school! Maybe everyone under 50 looks like a kid to them.

It is a bit odd. Some people think me to be older after talking to me, adn so forth. A girl in the orchestra I'm in thought I was a seinior in high school LAST year, when I was a freshman. A lady I deliverd to for Meals on Wheels, thougt I was at least twenty-five, and could not understand that I was a teenager. At the library, reasearching, I was asked repeditively what college I go to, and my grandmas neighbor refuses to beleive that I am my age (well I don't know, he probobly beleives it, because why would people lie, but I don't know{nt's...so confusing.})

Perhaps you come across as being wiser & more mature than people expect someone your age to be. Maybe your interests are those of an older student. I remember kids like that from my own school years, serious, ambitious, put-together kids who therefore seemed older than the rest of us. Maybe that's what people are seeing!
