As the weather *should* be good, what about a picnic, demonstration, and parade, culminating in a series of defining speeches by aspies from AFF, at Speaker's Corner, by Marble Arch, Hyde Park, London, on Autistic Pride day 2005?
Speakers corner is a well known spot next to Marble Arch where various influential minds in history, have given speeches on a defining topic, often being that later on they are properly recognised for their ideas?
In the city where I live in Australia we have something like a speakers' corner, and I wondered if it could be used for anything, but I decided that was a bad idea, as the crowd who turn up there to speak and listen on a Sunday appeared to be mostly bums, fanatical Christians, geriatrics, conservative politicians who were there to be photographed and infamous ratbags. You can call me a snob, but it's not my scene.
It's ironic I posted about this all that time ago - because even though I had totally forgotten about this thread, I am please to announce DANDA is planning a picnice in Hyde Park on the 18th June - details will follow as it is still being planned. It will be on the theme of APD and NPD (neurodiversity pride day). We will be meeting at 1 pm somewhere near Marble Arch.
Information available by email: events@danda.org.uk
Pleae do not email me personally about this.
I happen also to be a Protestant Christian and conservative!
I will add the Hyde Park picnic to the APD site
