I have been looking at the potential for grants in the area, and for land, etc. As we live in the area we could be eligible for grants if we fulfilled the requirements.
Some have suggested that a small start would provide capital for bigger ventures.
I think its good to look at all opportunities.

Something such as that might be a potential start, it has a small private island, plus large piece of land that is part of the main island of Angelsey.
The asking price is £895,000 - roughly $2 million.
890,000.00 GBP = 1,636,184.71 USD
Why are saying that number specifically?
Various reasons.
We might get a grant to build there (this piece of land as an example) which we would be unlikely to get in S.America.
More of us know english than portugese.
Free healthcare on the NHS.
Access to free books for homeschooling.
Less travel for people in the UK (very few members are in S.America)
People could continue to receive any benefits until work opportunities were established.
It is a tourist/holiday area, unlike the river island.
Its not a small farm, did you see the picture? That is big enough for a holiday centre with holiday homes.
And it would be a simpler start, then more land could be bought.
Its an example of what could happen.
I would suspect that the buildings there are at least partially degraded, either that or it is so far from anywhere they have had issues selling it.
It has a habitable 6 bedroomed house. It is on a large island that is a tourist destination, there are many places within driving distance.
The area is quite depressed in terms of employment as it's quite remote. My mum's uncle lives up around there. That would explain the relatively low price.
It would depend what field you were in, tourism does well, coachfitters would do badly.
I don't think there would be much point in moving to a highly populated area.
Then you could come and stay for a holiday
Any neighbours are far away. We would not be able to buy this piece, its an example. It will sell too quickly for us to get it most likely.
A grant is a possibilty, but usually if a person can pay half the costs, with mortgage or a trust.
That piece of land is 160 acres, the small island with it is 2 acres.
If we don't live in the area they won't give a grant will they.
Well we hope to start with whatever we can feasibly.
If we had the opportunity to get some land for example, we would start with that.
All and any opportunities will be explored.
