2006 Autistic Pride Day
picnic

in the East Meadow of
Central Park

Saturday, June 17 (the day before)

1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Bring a blanket and a picnic lunch and join us in

Celebrating Neurodiversity and Autistic Pride.

Come prepared to enjoy a day in the park with like-minded folk.

The picnic was a success.  It was a beautiful day, everyone enjoyed themselves, and we all agreed we need to get together more often.  Passersby were curious to see our "Autistic Pride" and "celebrate neurodiversity" banners.  This will definitely be an annual event.

I have just been reading the Judge Rotenberg Center report and it's very tragic.

Knowing some good things happened today gives some hope.

It sounds excellent! How many turned up?
Eleven.  Not a lot, but I think a respectable showing for a first attempt.  Next year, with more lead time and publicity, we'll see what happens.

Maybe by next year, I will have convinced my parents I am aspie and will be able to come, too.
