It seems to me that this would be an important step to determine where we want the island to be, whether we want it to be artificial/natural, etc.
Anyway, a few basic ones I came up with are:
Easy availibility of food and water
Easy availibility of electrical power and Internet accsess
Easy availibility of medical care
Safety from natural disasters(hurricanes, tsunamis, etc)

hydroponics make sense to grow perishables fruits and vegetables. Grains can usually be imported cheaply. Fish farms could provide protein unless people like processed soy.
Would people want a library? I would prefer just access to digital books and publications - saves space and cuts down on dust.
The idea of building an island is how much areas would be built for each person without making it too crowded? We do crave privacy. Then with more people arriving at first, how easily could the island be expanded?

Look at the specifications for the island on the Aufinity web page. It needs to be able to support more than 300 people year-round. Bewcause atificial islands are generally smaller than natural ones, it would make more sense simply to get the food from the mainland.
Well this raises the sticky question, what exactly would aspergia export? We lack natural resources, we lack manpower, and we will lack an industrial base. I assume Aspergia would follow the "little dragon" economic model and be as export based as possible?

I would have imagined High Technology to be autfinity's economic strongsuit, as we could have programmers, graphic designer's etc working to bring money from the mainland. It would probably have to be an almost entirely service based economy.
Rottnest Island, off the coast of West Australia, we could export Rottnests. Or Flinders Island is up to it's armpits in dingoes. There's that one where the koalas are getting culled, (can't remember the name)koala's would make cool hats. My personal fave would have to be Barrow Island, (also West Australia) because it's got it's own oil and gas field.

It could be run as a commune? People could contribute most of their outside earnings to the community and also people could be employed by the community. If "tourism catering to people with autism" could be profitable, it could also be a resort, educational retreat, university or some venture to best use people's talents.
The problem with communes is how to run the power/authority structure. And also what to do when people want to leave.

I agree with Meiloyn's last comment. Diagnosticians are simply looking for autism more in boys and men because of believing the misconception that it's more common in those groups. It wouldn't be necessary to import other ladies and besides, how would you convince them to come to the island in the first place? There might be a chance if they came from really impoverished countries and where the Aspergian Island would be a great improvement on their original circumstances.
