A new autism project has been launched that hopes to show the positive side of autism, and that parents of autistic children are loving and caring.
There has been some terrible tragedies recently, and some videos on autism seek to exploit the 'tragic' view of autism in order to gain large donations to their charities.
This latest project is asking for short video clips, such as mpgs or avi files, of parents describing how they love and care for their children, and the positive aspects of a child with autism.
The child need not be featured, a mother or father, or other relative talking will be appropriate.
A positive short film on autism can do much to show society that autism should be accepted, and that each child has possibilities.
If you wish to submit a video clip, full name or address is not needed, please send to amy@aspiesforfreedom.com

What about the autistic person talking about their experiences, and the things that make them proud to be autistic?
Yes, that can be sumbitted too. If we get enough material we can make 3 short films. One showing people that parents can love and be happy with their autistic children, not constantly on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
One showing autistics happy with their lives.
One showing NTs at their worst, as a response to Autism Every Day.
Also we can have a section on the site for such films, and submit them to google video, so that when people search for autism videos they can see something genuine and positive.
Oooh, several things have just occured to me!
One, I have a friend who has worked with Autistic children as a volunteer, and I am sure she would be more than happy to be filmed talking about what wonderful kids they are;
Two, school is almost over, so if I intend to use the school's cameras to get my video snippets, and if I intend to take video of myself and other aspies at my school, I will have to hurry;
Three, I maight be able to borrow a friend's camera, which would be the only way to take videos at home, seeing as I can't take the school's cameras home, but I do not know how soon I would be able to borrow it;
Four, I have no idea how to get the video to you after I have filmed it.
Thats great.
You upload it to your computer, like you would pics from a digital camera, then email it to me.

If you cannot do that can you download them on a school computer and send them, http://www.yousendit.com/ might be helpful if the files are too large to be sent through regular email, the service is free, they will send you an email with a link to the file and from there you can download it from where they cache it on their servers, I have used it once or twice given many mail services object to massive files being sent.
Anyway hope that helps just incase you don't manage to secure your friends camera to carry the footage home, I guess the other option might be to take a CD-R, assuming the school has machines capable of writing to CD.
There might be a problem with yousendit, my mate Hannah told me the other day, that sometimes they cache the file, but the email never sends, so you might want to manually email the download link.
Bloody brilliant idea! Then once they're done, distribute them all across the Internet. Classic 'war of position' stuff (said he showing off his knowledge of obscure Marxist theory).
