Oh my goodness.

To me Autistics are perhaps more capable of love than neurotypicals.( If you all don't understand this, please ask me to explain).
That article is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.

OK, recap; People with Autism are apparently incapable of love, say scientists. Apparently, Autism is partially a genetically inherited condition, say scientists, meaning that some people with Autism must clearly have kids in order for this to happen in any form. A contradiction in terms? I sense another War Of The Autism Researchers brewing...

Sex is not the same as love, but I can still see your point.

Well, yes, perhaps I phrased that incorrectly. Sorry about that. What I mean is that some people (incorrectly) believe that Autistics cannot feel anything, even a desire for sex, which is why many people question how they reproduce. This often leads to all sorts of sickening theories about how it happens.

What is more worrying is that many people do honestly think that if you don't show emotions you don't feel them. This attitude to the extreme is what allows ABA therapists to say "this would be devastating to a normal child, but autistics don't feel pain so it's alright"

Exactly. People cannot see through that argument. I have seen a lot of articles which claim that having a high ability to stand pain is an "Autistic Trait". Of course, there is a big difference between being able to stand a high level of pain and having a completely inactive nervous system, but they never bother to mention that, of course.

I defo agree with that comment. My son has autism and when he has his cuddly moments awww its lovely to just sit and cuddle with him.He doesnt like being hugged much. But it means i appreciate it more when he does want a cuddle. Also my son "loves" everyone. Hes awesome

       It constantly surprises me how stupid and close-minded people can be!  This is ridiculous!

It Reminds me of the Maximalagon Institute for Slowly and Painfully Dsicovering the Completely Obvious in The Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy
This is the dumbest thing I've ever read.

It's as much nonsense as the BBC news headline 'Autistics do not daydream'.

Any of my stressed primary school teachers could demolish that arguement in only a few seconds

Gosh, my husband should've written a paper when we got married, then he'd be famous for breaking this 'story'

Quote:
"Am I to say that what he thinks is love isn't love?" said Peter Gerhardt, executive director of Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism. "For him, it's love. And that's okay."

Now that was offensive to me! Just as the rest of the article, of course. People are ignorant
