my mom would probably believe it! she believes i got asperger's because of pestisides that got into the cows system... (well, they did have to take milk off of the shelves, when i was a baby... and so before i was born i probably had it in my system....) I know this isn't exactly what you guys are talking about.. however, i had a cousin born a few months before me, and he has the same issues.... and babies were born with all sorts of birth defects... anyways, that was a tangent.... but i don't want to include my mom in this if we are going to convince a parent.... she's too valuable to me... but what i am attempting to say is that there are many people who would actually believe it...
Regardless of whether or not mercury contributes to or causes autism, the chelation therapy that is being promoted doesn't work. The chelation formulas are known to act as solvents for heavy metals, but this says *nothing* about whether they would work for metal extraction... for them to actually "cleanse" the body of metals they would need to react with and absorb the metals then leave the body, not just be capable of dissolving heavy metal deposits without reacting to them. You can form a solution of many toxins in water... but drinking a glass of water will *not* generally act as an antidote should you ingest these poisons.
Anything with enough affinity for mercury and cadmium to actually remove them from the body would likely also strip the body of Zinc, and that is not a good thing!
