The true horror of their 'Autism every day' video is now being shown when it is being used as a reason for parents to kill autistic children.

The murder of Katherine McCarron, three years old, and autistic was shocking and unbelievably cruel. She was suffocated with a plastic bag by her own mother.

To add the ultimate insult to her death, this has been written by a journalist -

Before anyone else writes me about Karen McCarron, I'd like you to see something.
The Morton physician was arrested last week after allegedly suffocating her 3-year-old autistic daughter, Katherine. Afterward, I wrote a pair of columns trying to explain the mindset of a woman who would so such a thing.
I've been deluged with mail from across the nation. Half express empathy; the others want McCarron's head on a pike.
Much of the angry mail comes from readers who think that I'm trying to drum up sympathy for McCarron. Not at all. She stands accused of murdering a little kid, and she'll have to pay.
Rather, I've tried to get a look at what was going through her head. And we certainly can become more attuned to the lives of autistics and their parents.
So, before you fire off that nasty letter, watch this video: http://www.autism speaks.org/sponsoredevents/autism_every_day.php.

Anyone who has seen the video will know that it shows a mother talking about how she considered killing her own autistic child.
Now we have a murder of an autistic being attempted to be show sympathetically by use of the video.

I am writing to express my utter disgust at your article entitled "See video
before venting" found here:

http://www. pjstar.com/stories/052306/PHI_B9T2V18C.033.shtml

That you can give sympathy to a child murderer and encourage others to
actively feel the same sympathy is disgusting. Autism speaks' video "Autism
every day" is pure hate speech which encourages parents to view autistic
children as a burden. As an autistic father myself I find such hatred sickens
me.

Articles such as this are just part of what is currently a media frenzy over
the so-called "autism epidemic" in which MURDERERS RECEIVE MORE SYMPATHY THAN
THE VICTIMS. You are contributing to the dehumanisation of a whole group of
people through this article. You will have blood on your hands. You are no
better than someone spreading nazi propaganda.

I ask that you reconsider what you are doing before the dehumanisation and
hatred of autistics you are spreading claims more lives.

Yes, the comment written by Valeri Dugan is truly sick.  I can't believe a newspaper would publish something like that!

Quote:
Been there: No one should judge this woman for doing what she felt she had to do. My oldest daughter Jenna (age 8, severe autism) almost drowned 4 years ago. She had run off, and I spotted her and pulled her out just as her head was going below the surface of a stream's muddy water line. I cannot tell you how many times I have thought about that being a mistake.

Autism takes a toll on the whole family. If you haven't lived with it you can't possibly understand. - Valeri Dugan, Walnut Creek, Calif.

And there's also this one:

Quote:
Prayerful hearts: I can certainly see how this poor woman did break. So, please tell the family that many of us out here are praying and have love in our hearts for them. I just wish I could put my arms around this poor woman and take away some of her pain. - Dawn Powell

Having love in your hearts for a murderer??!!

What does anybody have to gain by demonizing us?

For CAN and Autism Speaks it seems like attention, sympathy and most of all money.
Money for research to cure us, and advance the prenatal test.

Their whole attitide is sickening beyond belief, just when I think I can't see any worse, I do.
I'd like the Autism Speaks people to try and explain, where there is any difference between their Autism Every Day video, and any other form of genocide propaganda.

I don't get it, I don't get it at all. How can people be so stupid, did they learn nothing of WW2 in school. Heck, I think most of them were around during WW2. Oh, lets do it again. Instead lets put cute little ribbons with puzzle peices on the red banners, instead of that ugly Swastika.
Heh, wow, Gareth, we have the same twisted sarcasm about all of this.

Works fine here

What I don't understand about the Andrea Yates case is why they kept on having children when it was clear that she wasn't coping even after the 3rd one. It would have been a good idea to take some precautions to prevent further pregnancies until at least the other children were a bit older.

It seems to me that she also followed the typical pattern of depression. She "came good" when she had proper treatment and help in the home but "fell apart" when the support was tailed off.

It is ironic that a depressed person can seem to be improving but yet their mental state is still fragile enough that the smallest setback can lead to their going completely backwards.

I don't hate this lady but hate what was done - that these 5 beautiful and innocent children lost their lives so senselessly and this isn't an isolated case.

With her history of post-natal depression, she should never have been left alone to try and cope.

I hope that this was not a serious post. I  am an Aspie myself, but i  certainly do not think we should desire to wipe out NTs !!!  I believe that we are all of much value and worth in God's eyes, and that we are all equal. We should not be encouraging hatred towards anyone.
Exactly, saying we want to wipe out NTs or anybody else makes us lose all credibility.
They seem to be showing worst case scenarios; I suppose for their shock value and to elicit sympathy and horror from parents. They don't seem very concerned about older children and adults on the spectrum who will find these things worrying and hurtful.
It would be tricky to prove mens rea on that. Would probably be a friviolous lawsuit which would cost a lot for both parties. Of course, I rather like the idea of them losing lots of money in legal costs regardless of if they are found innocent, as well as the obvious PR reasons.

Who's got the money?

Can somebody say "their claims of what they do don't match up to what they actually do and they take donations"?
I would guess several $1000 USD at least.
