I'm gay and I find it much harder to communicate with other women; I wouldn't say gay people are any more reliant on physical appearance than straight people. I frequently get told I'm attractive but I don't really make any social effort, particularly with other lesbians (I suppose I just don't see the point, I don't have much in common with any of them besides the fact I'm sexually attracted to women and there's only so much you can talk about in that department), so I've never been some 'stud'. Its far harder in the gay community because it is that small and close-knit - if you don't fit in, you don't fit in, period.

Lucie, J-P started a lot of nonsense with me on this thread saying that because I'm a female Aspie I can't possibly be gay - Aspies have the 'ultimate male brain' - something that Aspiedr has been going on about in his rants. I told him to go away and do his research before he started telling people what their sexual orientation is. Obviously he has went away and became a doctor in the space of a fortnight. The style of writing is similar and like Tim said, he has a strange time zone for someone in Conneticut.

I just think its really sad that this thread is meant to be for gay people who are also Aspie to be able to talk about the problems they face in wider society and within their own (small) gay communities (which for me is even scarier than wider society) and all it seems to do is get hijacked by people who presumably think its even funnier to wind up the 'queer social retards'

No no I don't mean that this should be a gay-only thread - gay friendly definitely, I think its always good for gay people to see straight people giving them support, the way its good to see NT people in here loaning support and giving respect. I only meant re idiots like aspiedr and Jean-Pierre

In my experience, I think when that does occur, its in an exaggarated way - something they think males behave like. I've frequently been put down with comments like "man stuck in a woman's body" because of the way I think and react to things. I often get asked why I only seem to hang around with guys. So I wouldn't say lesbians particularly have masculine traits - only some that want to be 'cool' and 'tomboyish' actually do.

Ultimately, they still deal with things in what I suppose is a female way. I went out with one girl who totally ID-ed as 'tomboy' and basically tarred me as a 'femme' (I had long hair ) but whenever we got into an argument she would be the first to start shouting, screaming and was incapable of dealing with anything in a logical, reasonable way. Most lesbians I've known, dated, went out with or hung out with have been much the same.

I sometimes wonder if some lesbians really do cut their hair short, spike it or do that stupid sweepy thing like Shane from The L Word and wear too big jeans etc just to make people realise they're gay/attract partners. I'm only saying that because I used to do that when I was 19 and wondered why I always got ignored by girls at the pub etc (I had longer hair and tended to wear feminine clothes). I once had someone openly try and come onto my girlfriend in front of me and her excuse (when I nearly tore her throat out) was she thought I was straight

I don't understand lesbians at all - I recognise things of what they do, but I don't get why they do certain things, I don't understand the cliqueiness, I don't understand why you would like crap musicians, films and TV shows purely because they're gay (although I love Ellen). I always get asked why I don't like the L Word and somehow saying "I think its crap" just gets met with the same disgusted looks of shock that I get when I say I hate Friends and Desperate Housewives

I find it much easier to ignore 'logical' conclusion who seems to have nothing better to do but put its own moral spin on everything and have no allowance for anyone else. That might be logical for them, not so good for the rest of society. I'm only back here because of posters like you, Rossco, QD, Tigger etc.

Where we all experience social difficulties anyway? There's such a thing as not fitting in with the dynamic of the group and maybe what certain individuals should do is acknowledge that and take themselves to a place where they do fit in with the dynamic rather than making vain attempts to change the dynamic of the group that clearly does not want to change, in particular for someone that in less than 100 posts has managed to clock up several reports against them, and if it had half as much logic as it claimed to have, it would realise that it is not purely what it says or attempts to debate but its condescending, arrogant bullshit deflection of anything that disagrees with its world view. Anyone who has the faintest idea of debate realises and accepts that they may not always be correct and values the difference of others. All it has demostrated is a barefaced disrespect for the regular members who post here and debate like adults whilst respecting the opinions of those that agree with them. It would never last five minutes against a sociologist or anthropologist which is why it needs to seek salvation on an internet forum where it can throw around offensive, one sided comments without the fear and humilation of having their argument deconstructed by a professional, face to face, who actually knows what they're talking about. I have lost any interest in arguing with it as it has no idea what debate is about, it has no conception of politics, it has no conception of the real adult life.
