Hey...I forgot to post here...this thread is why I joined AFF.
I had a Gay friend who told me that I can't be Gay because I have no "Fashion Sense"!
At the time it was just another social group that I couldn't relate to...
Having been diagnosed three years ago this gave me a framework to deal with who "I" am.
I am Bisexual and only came out online...too much BS for any of my NT friends.
I'm not in a relationship so it not really something that needs to be written on my chest.

I wrote some of my views on the aspergeradults.ca forum LGBT board regarding gender role reversal and on relationships in general on the relationship board over there...
Here's a link to the LGBT board:
http://aspergeradults.ca/board/index.php?board=11.0

I've heard the stuff about how there is no such thing as a bisexual...well then I am just confused and like broccoli and brussle sprouts...

Tim ( lost on the Kinsey scale...)
To me pleasure is pleasure...
I'm past making babies so why be hung up about who I'm with...

I seem to lack the social boundries requiered to "not" want one flavor or another.

If some one is nice to me I'll return the favor...

Having someone else pick my orientation just sort of puts me off...

Tim
Oh I have ventured out of Cali and it can be scary...

It is one thing to be called names and another to be cornered...

I don't have a limit switch when I am being threatened...so I keep my radar on when I'm out and about.

I felt much more at ease in the third world than in many US cities...
Over there I was just a visitor who didn't force eye contact.
Tim
Red,

The funny part is that some times I can pass for straight and not NT and other times I pass for NT and am called Fag...

And I am not talking about being at a bar or trying to pick someone up...

Men seem to have to push their insecurities on others...I am not a redemption center!
I also do not just roll over for stangers regardless of gender...
So why is it their business unless it is their problem...

It would be nice if any of them had the tolerance to be a friend first then they could find out what I like...

Anyway thanks for the replies Red and Earthmonkey...
Tim
Red,
This country was founded and poplulated by people who wore bathing gowns so the wouldn't look at themselves while getting clean...you know what trouble that causes!

We still call them bathing suits...I usually swim.
When I bathe I like to clean all the parts!

Tim
Red,
NorCal is a little less gadget oriented but not much...
Silicon valley is where many of my mountainbike buddies are...so gadgets galore.

Living in the mountains I can get away with driving an old Suburban which is now a celebrity in it's own right...but It is the mountainbiking community where I am comfortable.
If it was the Ski set or the Sierra clubers I would have a tougher time of it.

In mountainbiking it can be great sport to tease someone for being a poser in their new techno gear but can't ride or if they get smug.

Getting beat by the old fat guy on a clunker bike puts the shine on it...
It has taken a long time to fit in but they are an eccentric bunch to begin with.
I'm just a little farther off center...

I think we better "Get a room" or people will think we hyjacked the thread...

Tim
Okay so what were we on about...
Oh yea welcoming new Omnigendered lovable Aspies...

Thanks Garth and the Admin gang for having a lively community to visit!

Tim
It seems I screwed that up...

Sorry...Gareth.

Tim( spelling wizz...)
There was a really great paragraph in the front of the rather large manual on how to operate the aircraft we flew...

It read:
This manual is a set of guidlines to help in the operation of the aircraft.
It not intended to limit individual initiative in actual operation.
Your skill and experience will must suplement these guidlines.
They will be updated as new information is made available....

Words to live by...
Any book or person who spouts "the" answer is suspect in my book!

Campo,
Welcome to the forum...there are diverse opinions expressed here.
Each person uses what works for them...and we all want to share.
Clearly one size does not fit all...
Hopefully you have raised Jean-Pierre's horizons...if not then the loss is not yours.
Thanks for staying with us...
Tim
It is an Oscars speech...
It only took me 51 years to find the Aspie community.
You got here in record time...
Thanks for the New Year wish...I hope yours goes well also.
Here is a link to a young man who is out making a difference at a university near where I live:

It may have some things you can use to get the word out.
I didn't like the way the media handled it but that's par for the course...Still a good article and I have E-mailed Jay.

Good luck at Uni...
Tim
Yes...We found it...

I never went to uni...I had a tough time with writing and only was good at math and science.
So after failing most of public school I went to Advance Avionics school in the US Navy.
It gave me several careers and a solid foundation for living in a technical world...
A byproduct was a view of problem solving which allowed me to find my own solutions.
My goal is to help reduce suffering and give pleasure where ever I can...

Tell Jay it was the old Mountainbiker guy who refered you...
I host the UCDavis bike races in the forest near me...
Uni people are a kick to spend time with.
Tim
That is it...

I just started writing a couple of years ago after having a block about writing for forty years.
Writing has helped work through a lot of things I carried around.
A little over a month ago I wrote on an e-mail forum and the owner asked me to moderate her new forum.
It has been awesome to have a place to write and interact with others who don't smirk.

The site is still really small and mostly quiet.
http://aspergeradults.ca/board/index.php

I think it complements this site, where I come when I have the energy to interact more.

You and Jay are going to shape the future and I will be there cheering you on.
Have a drink for me...I have fourteen hours to get ready.
Tim
I have a friend who has major challenges with socializing.
He is likely on the spectrum...it doesn't matter.
He lives his life and we ride out bikes...
I took the photo on his home page when we were at Lake Tahoe.
Many of his vids have me as the star.
We both have major issues with small motor control and vertigo.
It slows us down some but doesn't stop us...
He is 59 and Professor of Biology at Uni.
I asked how he can run a class and not do so well in socializing.
He said " In my class I'm the boss"
He has found a niche' and has been very sucessfull.

Here's a link to his site:
http://arnica.csustan.edu/mtbike/

This is how some of us find a way no matter what...
Check the Downieville 20-21 Aug '05 video to see me go over the bars in one of my Aspie moments.( I wear hard shell armor BTW)

Academia can be a good place to use our skill set...
Tim
Robust...I like that.
My skill set would not fit there and Steve's wouldn't fit where I have had success.
Our interest meet on the trail.

When his bike is broken He looks at me and says" I'm an academic I can't fix that..."
I reply "I'm going swimming you'll figure it out..."

I was caregiver and Physical Therapist for his knee replacement.
That much time around each other was really tough...
We both survived it.

It has been awesome to have someone shoot video of my favorite rides.
I think they are much better than "home video" I have seen.

Tim( needs to go ride and lose some robustness!)
Many lesbians(though NOT ALL)tend to have masculine behavioral traits and see the world in a masculine sort-of way. So being a female aspie and being gay makes Perfect sense to me.
