For the last few weeks I have been having seizures. The first thing that happens is stiffining of my neck; then my head, arms and sometimes legs begin to jerk. So far I haven't lost consciousness. Also in last few weeks I've noted an increase of creativity; that could be a sign of temporal lobe epilepsy. Months ago, I had my first seizure (I didn't know what it was at the time), after working on muitplying using synaesthesia numbers. Now, however, I have one every day. I am not sure what to do; the creativity is positive, the seizures themselves are of course negitive.
The most obvious answer is to see your doctor and ask for a referral to a neurologist.
See a doctor, especially if you are a driver.
My main problem is medication. To every medication I've had, there was a severe side effect; the worst was a year of depression. From what I've read, that is one of the side effects of the medications for seizures. I don't want either the depression or the seizures (minus the positive creative side effect), but I would rather have 2 minutes of convulsions a day than another year of depression.
For a note of warning, don't mess around with Complex partial seizures (temporal lobe seizures) if that is what you are having, they come with an alteration of consciousness that can if you drive or whatever lead to an accident. You should see a neurologist. Complex partial seizures at times can lead later to Tonic-Clonic (Grand Mal) seizures etc. If they are getting to be bothersome and all, get medication. It's better than ending up in a situation where you could potentially end up harmed if they are indeed complex partial seizures. My son has had episodes that are like complex partial seizures and he's had them right in the middle of crosswalks and other times. The neurologist can work through prescribing meds and working around any other meds you are currently on to find the best combination if needed. Another note, if you are consciously aware of what is going on with your body, it wouldn't be Complex partial (temporal lobe) seizures... absence seizures have no alteration of conscious state and you can be aware of your arm jerking, etc. Of course, this type will often show up easily on an EEG because they can occur up to 100 or so times a day. Get to a neurologist, get an EEG done, the neurologist will want you to keep a record of when these episodes occur, dependant on how long they last, your response level and all, he/she may or may not prescribe medication, not all those with epilepsy have it indicated in needing meds.
Yes I've had some time to research this as I only recently met with the head of neurology at the children's hospital in our province and discussed the types of seizures, the meds, etc. and have had Dylan through his 2nd EEG, we have to record his episodes and got to email them to the neurologist and see him in a month. He is sure Dylan's are complex partial and will likely either give him Tegretol or Clobazam. If a person can pinch you and you don't move and aren't aware of anyone near you... that's what neurologists look for in differentiating absence and complex partial seizures. Complex partial seizures last 30 seconds +, absence seizures last 15 seconds or less.
When I wrote my first post, my seizure didn't seem to be severe; now, however, they seem to be getting worse (last night and two nights ago I had more severe ones). I think now the benifit of treatment out weighs the risk. Now I have to figure out how to tell my parents (I don't like conversation).
If they get worse that fast, you really, really need to see a doctor!!
Can you write your parents a letter?

They difference beteewn them and the last was that I collapsed on the floor. After the the first I thought it was an isolated happening (but I desided to write this because of it) until the second.
Hey i've been having seizure like symptoms too! I havent been diagnosed with epilepsy, but I think it's pretty obvious. My mom said I never had a tonic clonic episode, but then again my mom is a moron (not kidding). I think you should see a doctor espcially if you find yourself drifting away way drving. Thats my problem now, im starting drivers training tomorrow and if my arm goes crazy so will the car!
What do you mean by creative? Just curious. Like I write stories and stuff, if you want someone's opinion, in the end i'd rather drive and be able to do normal activities than be creative, if my opion counts.

I started having seizures a few years ago, but they stopped about a year later (they were few and far between). But I still have the kind sometimes where an hour passes, but it's like just a moment passes, and people say I was staring out the whole time. I once missed an English essay test during one of these instances. Three years ago, my neurologist said it was a kind of seizure, but I didn't have any trouble with it until more recently. Anyone know anything about this?
