He love the smell of (most) books. And you can't forget that new book feel. Before th binding is eged, and that paperback just springs of the desk. Suprisingly quite a few of my friends love the smell as well. "lemony sncikets a series of unfortunate events" has a smell all its own. It is absolutely splended, but we can not find a single other thing that smels like it.
Once, when I was realy scared during a speech (well not that that dosen't always happen, but this one we had to talk about ourselves) I accidentily mentioned that I love to smell books
(hey at least I did not drop the F-Bomb, like a kid in my history class, when presenting a resolution for the moddle U.N. [our teacher could not even take him seriously after that.] :!:

Back in the summer of 1980, when I was 14, I had a new paperback copy of Stephen King's THE SHINING. It smelled just like freshly poured asphalt. The scent of that book became, in my mind, the signature scent of that summer, of all my daydreams from that time, and I kept taking that book out for months after & sniffing it, till the scent was all gone...

Freshly mowed grass...ocean water...cedar, sandalwood & DILL. How wonderful... And the smells of rain & snow.
And that lovely fresh-asphalt smell of my long-ago paperback copy of THE SHINING...never to be forgotten.
