apparently, autism speaks has a new video out about the "horrific world of autism" and how horrible it is for the familes to "deal with us". i am not going to see it, but digusting.

that's the autism every day link. the name of it implies that autism is an abyss, a cycle that should be broken becuase of the agony.
to me, autism every day is the best life i could have. i coulnd't see my life without autism every day...it would probaly be boring. my life is wonderful becuase it's autism every day
and i never want it to change...ever :!:
It makes the kids look like monsters. Its like a giant ad for the prenatal test.
Parents would be terrified of having an autistic kid after seeing that.
it's all like the "autism monster" myth the curebies, speically can proport. i was not a monster, still not, and never will be. and plus, they only show the negative side without showing the postivies autistics bring to their parents, like in some blogs.
mabye autism speaks knew about the prenatal test coming up and did this for the occasion.
the curebies would say that this is the brightest hope for autism and famlies everywhere becuase they can get rid of us now.
The worse bit was the 'putting Jody in the car and driving of the George Washington bridge' remark.
This video makes me fill sick.
that's why i couldn't watch it. more autism myths. mothers that think like that about their children, autistic or not really don't deserve to be parents.
aren't all children "little monsters" at one point? i have seen almost no 24/7 behaved children, and sometimes, i was the only behaved one in a group of non autistics. i think they can be little monsters too
looking back, i think the autism diagonsis was the best thing to happen for us, seeing that our extended family is extremely dysfunticonal, and i suspect they are autistic as well, but don't know it...just a theory.
I couldn't watch all of that.
One thing I noticed was that often, when the mothers were talking to the camera with their child sitting right there, the children made noise, and put there hands in their other's faces to try to stop them. I hated when grown-ups would talk about me like I wasn't there. Like the little boy, and the mother said "he doesn't talk much." And all I could think was "that doesn't mean he doesn't understand whet you're saying.
I yelled at my computer screen a few times watching only half of that.

Yeah, and the only reason she didn't is because she also has a "normal" child to take care of.

more disturbing...that was allison singer, the person who basically runs autism speaks. so the origaztion is encouriaging treating autstics as muderous monsters, and "normal" kids as the only savior for their existence. she really hate autistics.
i think she was on that offensive apprentice show, where she said "autism changes everything" like it brought pain and despair on the things she didn't have. stop and look at what you do have.
if this is allowed to continue, we will be gone.

I watched the video in full, even though it was very sad and painful to watch. That woman isn't fit to be a mother! If the authorities saw the video and heard what she said, then I wouldn't be surprised if the children were taken into care!
she probaly won't, since that is allison singer, the vp of autism speaks. although she should have her children taken for neglect and being mentally unable to care for the children.
i bet the authories would say this is okay for parents to treat autstics like this since we're all "forever monsters doomed to nothing".
I can't watch it. Not that I refuse to, or anything. . . The file is a self-referential playlist. Somehow, that works out in Windows Media Player, but not in the better players of the world (like mplayer). . .
Bleh, I couldn't stomach watching it all, just the intro is bad enough where they try and make out Autistic kids spend their time wailing, and they way they try focus on that last girl as if to say "Autistics kids life is *suffering* - help it stop by wiping them out"
But I couldn't help notice at least one of the mothers interviewed mentioned "Medication"... hate to break it to her but there is no standard medication for Autism, so... what's she been pumping her kid full of?
One woman essentially claims that her son is doomed to a lonely, wifeless, childless life. This will hit hard with mums!
That's what it's all about for a lot of NTs, I've found : having grandchildren. As if any life where you don't frantically breed is worthless.

Maybe that could be more evidence that we're a new branch of evolution? ;p
Up until now, just about every single species in existance spends their lives franticlly trying procreate, even NT-Humans, who disguise the process under a complex set of rituals and behaviours, but in the end it all comes down to sex...
...Aspies on the other hand...
Wow! Amy, I love it: "It's time for them to listen". How powerful!
