The May 16, 2006 CBS Evening News had a story about an 11-year-old boy with Asperger's, and his relationship with his service dog. The two are now working together in the sport of dog agility.

By contrast, I am in my 40's, and discovered canine performance events only in the last 8 or 9 years. I enjoy working with my two dogs very much. We compete in events including obedience, agility, and tracking.
There was a time when my NT wife resented the amount of time that I spend working with my dogs. But I think she is now of the view that it is beneficial for me. It would be too strong to say she actively encourages my dog-related activities . . . but she is more tolerant than she once was. And she certainly loves our two dogs.
