I appologize it this is not an appropriate topic.
Dose anyone seem to forget some fairly obvious details.
At a friends sisters birtday party, it was mostly family, however we have prety much been "initiated" into their family, she was reading cards and oppening gifts, and one of her autns, was crying. We were joking with her, and she just asid "I'm sory it's just so emotional." I was realy confused as to why it was emotional for a while. My friends 16th birthday had been a few monthes earlier, and she was not emotional then. I remembered a few minutes latter, that the girl had had lukemia when she was a baby, and was now officialy considered a 10-year surviver (she had a party that summer to celebrate). I just can't understand why I would have forgothen that they were almost positive htat she would never see this day, because fo her cancer.
Anyone else forget stuf like this?
Yeah, I forget a lot. I can't count the number of times I've had to bumble my way through a conversation pretending I know what the person is talking about until something they say jogs my memory.
And that's not even counting the times I forget my phone number or other important things. :/ I can remember my social security number, my bank account numbers, and the key number from a case on an episode of Bones, but I can't seem to keep track of my own phone number. >_<
I forget birthdays, anniversaries, things like that which involve dates. I rely on my NT husband for that sort of stuff a lot. He's got an amazing memory not only for dates but for faces; he'll see somebody he met once ten years ago and stop for a chat. He's able to accurately remember their name, their job, spouses name, how many kids they've got, their family pet, etc. It amazes me how he does it!

An interesting theory on that is that NTs have more social links in their memory, making it easier to recall social things. Human memory functions on linked concepts, so the more random concepts you have related to a single fact the easier it is to remember that fact.
What date are my brother's and parent's birthdays again?
I can remember dates, but not names and faces.
I have a built in calendar type thing in my head.
I have a very good emeory for things I have done, but I cannot remember names very well(i.e.I can remember going to some market where they had goats on the roof very accutely, but I cannot remember at all where it was.
I think this is because I'm a visual thinker and it's a lot easier to represent what one did at a place in a pictoral format then it is the name of the place.
My brother saved me from a very awkward situation a couple of days ago. He phoned to say hi on his way back from work and reminded me that it was mother's birthday. I had completely and utterly forgotten, and she's the one person I know who would not have forgiven me for forgetting their birthday!

Interesting that you say that, as some people have said that visual thinking can help people make a map in their head, ie visual spatial thinking.
I am not a visual thinker, yet I have a highly accurate map in my head, and great sense of direction, (though I couldnt describe to someone else where to go by drawing a map).
It seems that the rules that people describe - if you are visual you can do this, if you arent you cant, etc are just not true.
The more I learn the more I find I dont know.
