Lately, I've had too much thought about fur. it's getting really annoying! I hate the fact that somebody would go out, kill a bucnh of poor innocent animals, and put them together into an article of clothing for some rich sadist!
I even wrote a rant with my hands! Here it is, word for word:
I'm so darn tired of constant thought about fur! It's just too much! Fur belongs on their rightful owners (the animals), not on people! Besides, at a show at [CAMP NAME DELETED], I was in the front row and when the actor playing the voyageur pulled out the pelts, I was grossed out! If I wasn't so concerned about being sent home early, I would have probably either a) grabbed the pelts and tossed them into the lake as close to the middle as possible or b) asked one of the adults for ketchup, but I just sat there. You'd have to be a total sadist to like that part of the show! I mean, really! But the really bad thing is the killing of minks! Yes, minks! Those sweet weasels! And these sadists kill a bunch of them, skin them, and sew them together and it looks GROSS! And then some fashion-conscious rich sadist pays an arm and a leg for that! If you ask me, it's sickening! Especially to an 11-year-old weasel lover like moi! Besides, if people want soft, can't they just buy silk (made from moth cocoons[?]) or a similar material? If they want glamour, can't they just buy a glittery dress with sequins and stuff on it? You know why? 'Cause fashion is too fur-oriented! And 'cause people are sadists! That's why! Blame it on a bunch of sadistic neurotypical women! They're really shallow! (of course, I once was rather shallow myself, but to a lesser degree than them) They don't even care what the animals went through! Shallow sadists! I pity them in this rant! Now, can you pass the ketchup?
There it is. I wrote it about two weeks back, maybe more. But my thoughts didn't ease to the back of my head for long! Whatever happened to people accepting cloth? Well, they probably just figured "hey, let's go out and capture a bunch of animals for some coats so we can sell them to some lady for $900 or so"! Sadistic hunters! Sadistic customers! Sadistic trade!
How do I stop having these thoughts?

Question: Why isn't the anti-leather lobby as vocal as the anti-fur lobby?
Answer: Because rich ladies are softer targets than biker gangs.
On the flip side, it seems to me that most women cannot cope with temperatures under 72 degrees or so (22 I think for you Celsius-speakers)
They seem to cope perfectly well in Newcastle-upon-Tyne!
If women are as hypersensitive to low temperatures as Monk claims, why does formal dress require them to wear skimpy dresses on a cold winter's evening, while men are obliged to wear jackets and ties in the height of summer?
i have a lether trenchcote.
lether is ushaly made from animals that also have meet.
using animals for clothing isen't realy that much wors than eating them.
but smal and fluffy animals should live........ exept for bunnies!
Well, I'm against killing an animal *only* for its fur.
I believe it's natural for humans to eat meat. Our ancestors in the jungles did it
Our ancestors also wore animal skins. No pesticide-drenched fields of cotton, no organophosphate-dipped sheep, no acrylic factories belching sulphur dioxide in those days...
I think we'll have a poll about this issue cos I find it very interesting. Others might too.
Imagine a biker wearing a fur coat and falling off at speed, say 50 mph? The fur rubbing against the pavement, it could easily burn. Just imagine the smell it would make! We've had cats at home for years, I can recall how bad the lounge would smell with just a few cat hairs put on the fire after stroking her.
So I'm all for bikers wearing leather.
If they wore fur:
A. It would look a bit pants.
B. It would make you very unpopular in a crash.
Now let's be serious. I eat meat, have a leather jacket, and would wear fur if I needed too. Man has been wearing fur since the beginning of time, and I don't think some ultra synthetic oil derived nylon alterative would be any better. I see nothing wrong with wearing fur whatsoever, it's part of nature. Like hermit crabs use the shells of other shellfish for protection, I see no problems in humans doing the same. Just following their natural instincts.
On the meat subject, humans evolved to eat meat, and I think it's fighting your natural instincts not too. We have canine teeth like dogs, afterall.
"hamsters" :shock:
How many of those would you need for one coat?????
* The most farmed fur-bearing animal is the mink, followed by the fox. Mink farmers breed female minks once a year, producing a surviving litter of three to four kits killed when they are about six months old. A full-length mink coat can cost upwards of £10,000 and be made from 50 pelts. Other favoured animals are chinchillas, seals, lynxes, hamsters and rabbits.
The poor babies! They don't even get to grow up because of this fur trade stuff! :x

On the matter of being against something... I find myself getting all indignant at the way the media refer to the Indian Ocean tsunami. Some sources have called it a "tidal wave" - totally, utterly wrong! A tsunami is caused by seismic activity under the sea, whereas tides are caused by the moon's gravitational pull. Many people (including, regrettably, Oxfam) are referring to it as the "Asian" tsunami. This is inaccurate because (a) four African countries were affected (Kenya, the Seychelles, Somalia and Tanzania) and (b) not all the countries of the Asian continent were affected.
(See

It's all too similar to the way the media reports a famine in Sudan as an "African tragedy" - treating the continent as one huge disaster zone and not bothering with the names of individual countries. In other words, it's racist. How would we have liked it if the global media had referred to the conflict in former Yugoslavia as the "European war"?
So would you call all Eskimos sadists, and cruel people? They depend on fur for their livelihoods.
So would you call all Eskimos sadists, and cruel people?
Inuits!!
We should make some NT fur.
The title of this thread refers to "things" in the plural. Is fur the only thing you're against?
