I am very fascinated by this. The limbic system is also implicated in the autistic lack of motivation to get to know people, due to a reduced ability to lay down episodic memories (memories linking events to emotions). Looks like they may soon be able to tie these all together, and then answer the big question: is it a matter of reasserting weakened neural pathways (the mu-reading computer game joystick, rdi-type therapy), or are the connections severed ('bad wiring')?
