It must just be the same old "of course you can't be happy if you're not the same as us" thing.
Or more likely, she genuinely believes CAN can cure her cousin and thought she was doing a good act.

Now I really don't like curbieism, but saying it was emotional blackmail without proof, is not right.

I disagree that she simply wanted to help her cousin and so donated.

Lets look at this logically....she could have given the money straight to her cousin! Isn't that going to help him a hell of a lot more??!!

I am sure she had some kind of pressure, emotional, subliminal, from tv ads, maybe even Dr Phil.

or mabye here aunt and uncle (zach's parents) refused the money and told her to donate to can instead.  we don't know enough of the story to tell.  i think the whole family is part of the can brigade, and the parents are curebies.

Yeah, that stuff happens at my school sometimes too. It's a real pity that people my own age act only upon what they're told. I remember hearing in class, these girls were describing why they were late and they said they were bowling with autistic kids. Bowling's fine, but the entire concept is not because they'd only let kids out of class to to play if they were ill. Insulting, I could barely stand to be in class after that. It's bad too because they're taking advantage of kids being naive. I'm fourteen and when they tried to change me I only figured it out after four months of testing and whatnot. Seven years from now they'll be ignoring that.
