I don't understand it.

If people often randomly insult you in the street, there's a reason: you probably look different.

Do you walk like a robot? I can't move my arms like a normal person when I walk, and I now put my thumbs or my hands in my pockets to hide it. Most people also look around when they are walking, even if there's absolutely nothing interesting to see (why? I don't know).

Anyway, you shouldn't feel bad. They are just idiotic monkeys.

Well, uh, yes, in a way. In a way.

That makes two of us!

I was bullied and teased all through school, so I know how you must have felt.

I think you reacted in exactly the right way.  Perhaps you can find some comfort in the knowledge that you are the one that behaved in a wise, mature way and they were the ones acting like a bunch of baboons.   They are the ones that have something wrong with them, not you.   There is nothing wrong with being different from other people, but there is something wrong with teasing, bullying, and hurting other people.

Thank you very much, I feel very much the same. Sadly, it seems to be a badge of merit among certain groups of NT:s to tease and bully those who are weak and cannot defend themselves. It's like you're not seen as "cool" or "a real man" unless you torment and prey upon those weaker than yourself.

fREaK: Yes, I am protected (we have stairs in our house).

I know I'm rather late replying to this thread.

I am so sorry you had to go through that. It sounds awful. I have no idea what is wrong with some people and why they feel the need to do that. (I'm an NT who got bullied a lot.)

I can only echo what everyone else said--you conducted yourself in a mature and reasonable manner.
KARMS: I absolutely LOVE your puppy! She's so cute I can't stand it!  For what it's worth, an NT woman I know, a blunt & funny type, said one day, "I don't like cute things."  I think many of us have a natural sense of how much cute is TOO much.  Your little pup is just cute enough.  Smile
