I hope the interview went well. Your outfit sounds fine. If they can see you've made the effort to look smart, they won't mind about the finer details.
I'm sorry about the support attendant job, but you can still look into this type of work. They should have covered your costs though, if you were accompanying her on the bus, they should pay your fare.
I would require some training to be a "personal support worker" or "caregiver". Some of the positions pay better than other jobs.
I really enjoy my job working with preschoolers. And while they are on holidays I've done some temping in the nursery and with the toddlers group in the daycare section. That's fun as well, in a different way - the preschoolers do tend to keep you on your toes and intellectually flexible with their quick little minds! But I don't do this job for the money, it's not that well paid (in Australia at least, don't know about other countries.) I've made far more money in other jobs I've held. But this one is emotionally and intellectually satisfying for me, as I feel like I'm having some hopefully positive effect on the future generations.
