Good work. It looks like you had quite a few people at the walk (how many exactly?). if anyone wants to do a walk in Charlottesville, count me in. What kind of response did you get from the walk?
I'm very impressed with your bravery  Big Grin

I can only wish that I have that much courage on any similar event.

Well done that man!

Dont you want to be normal?". She was looking at me and talking to me like "oh you poor thing"

I'm dreading to think what these people are doing to their kids confidence and self-esteem. I'd call it child abuse.
That was spot on.
Greetings,

Sorry for the late response but well done.  You will have heard it from everyone else but I am impressed Smile

The negative reaction of the people is actually a very important thing.  It shows what kind of people they really are - unintelligent biggots basically.

This is what we have to show people - and we cant afford to get angry over it (thats the hard part).  Sooner or later people will start to realise what a bunch of idiots these people really are.
Yes, superb idea Big Grin
There was a NAAR walk around in October back on the 12th.. I appeared on TV but it was very far away like in Brockton I think and I'm not sure if there would be any other protesters. I'm pretty sure I would be ignored if it was just me.
Feeling a little self-conscious Joe?

You needn't be, it was wonderful what you did  Smile
This may be better starting a new thread for. Almost everyone who posts here does not support pre-natal screening for autism wondergirl, thats part of our philosophy to be against it.
If you posted it on a NT parents forum, you could get very different responses. We know that some women already abort male foetuses as they feel that there is a higher risk of autism from a boy. That is women who have one child with autism already, or a history in the family.
We can look at other prenatal tests to see how it may work for autism.
Most babies that test positive for suspected down's syndrome ARE aborted.
And that fact that some women are aborting boys already, with no evidence that they are autistic at all, shows the fear that is carried.
Kev, there will always be speculation and interest, and for some people there is a lot of evidnce. One other point - any proof that Einstein was NT?
Kev said "I'm not trying to claim someone as being anything though, I just worry that there's a lot of self-affirmation by proxy going on here - is that autism advocacy movement so weak that we need to grab anyone who portrays even the slightest hint of an ASD as being on the spectrum? Some people are simply shy, or quiet naturally."

Kev I know what you are trying to say (I think) but if NTs were being called an epidemic and they were looking to cure them you bet there would be a list of artists and musicians and scientists, and saying look what we can accomplish, please dont change us.
Because they probably went to bed. The UK is about 5 hours ahead of USA so it was 11:15 pm here when you posted that.  Smile
It is thought that autism is 90% genetic and can be inherited.
I just wondered how old you are wondergirl?
Hi wondergirl, can you post this as a new thread? Maybe in parents, and that way people will find it more easily to answer you, Thanks. Smile
Hey eel!!!!

The people on the walk would have been family of those with autism, and their children.
They were doing a sponsored walk for a group that is researching to find an autism cure. A lot of them don't realise that many people do not want a cure, and like many in the general public, some are not aware that there are adults with autism who are against it.
A peaceful protest can do a lot to raise awareness that people with different opinions exist.

About the web page you saw, colour sensitivity can be Irlen syndrome, apparently quite a few people with autism have irlen syndrome, and wearing prescribed coloured lenses can help.

Happy travels eel.
