An American woman has written a ´fictionalised´account of raising a child on the autistic spectrum ´Daniel isn´t talking´.
She was on BBC Breakfast this morning. Not sure if the details are on their website or not.
Surprisingly, she wasn´t toooooo negative.
She has a great website.
Daniel Isn't Talking sounds like a chick-lit book with Daniel added in. He is trying to find his own way in life. Daniel is based on the son, Nicholas.
In her post on her blog she really emphasises early intervention. What kind of intervention, I wonder? Does Daniel in the book, or Nicholas in real life, have ABA or any of its variants?
She seems very accepting and loving to Nicholas in the article she writes about their life together. Nicholas just went iceskating and he goes every week. Yay! It must be a sensory onslaught sometimes, but he never gives up and has lots of fun.
He did have ABA in Keeping it Together and he seems to have responded in a miraculous way. What kind of learning style would support this?
