eating mcdonalds fries on a daily basis will make you sick...too may saturated fats to be eating that alot.  we actually don't eat mcdonalds fries much anymore since they changed their forumla.  why didn't they take her to the local subway instead and get a sandwich without the bread?  there's a bunch on indiantown rd (i'm thinking that's where this mickey d's was)  it's better for you.

for a while, i got sick every time i ate onion rings from carl's jr, did i sue them?  i just stopped eating their onion rings and that was the end of it.  instead of stopping, they continuted to eat it.  once you find out they changed their fries, stop eating it, dont continue and then sue the resturant for changing their forumla... there's thoundsands of customers that mcdonalds serve that are not you, and mcdonalds does not have an obligation to change the menu for one person.

the kid has celicac disease...just cook her up something out of a gluten free cookbook.  the fact that she's autstic as well may correlate that autstics have celicac disease more often than the general population.  for saying it sets back autism treatment is kinda lame...i guess they are trying to normify her.

the celicac disease trigger could be from another source...they may need to look at the other sources.

i'll probaly now avoid the local mcdonalds for a while (i live kinda close to there and they may be owned by the same person) since there may be something that makes everyone sick.

my entire family said that these parents are dumb.  i hope mcdonalds wins this case.  they shouldn't be eathing that junk all the time, it's bad for you.
They think a gluten free diet can help with autism? Excuse me, I've got a sudden craving for about a loaf of wheat bread. . . Wink

Mmmmm.  Ingredients for McDonald's fries do list flavouring could have wheat origin but any gluten from that would be very very minimal.  The possible beef content might be an issue for vegetarian and some religions.

Wasn't there a huge furore about that in India?

Yes, but bear in mind that the experiment being done in Supersize me was kinda flawed. IE - "Well of course if you eat nothing but junk food for a month you're going to get ill."

I think the point of the lawsuit is that something that isn't gluton free was being advertised as being gluton free.
..the family was indeed negligent, granted, i eat fries and such from time to time, but i also have a varied diet, and never get my fries from a fastfood joint, it's either from a chinese restaurant, or we fry them ourselves. Believe it or not, the ones from a chinese restaurant are clearly better fried in high-quality oil, rather than the *** they use in fastfood joints, quite frankly: these parents should have been a little more attentive towards bringing their daughter to a fastfood chain.

Macdonalds however, still has the obligation to ensure their fries don't cause cases such as these, if they tested the fries, did they also test the oil, did they inspect the filial the family often frequents? On another note, a few years ago most Burger King filials in my country where closed when several people reported rats in their food.. i call it the "ratburger" incident.

All in all, both sides made serious mistakes, both sides will need to reconsider their approaches.
