In case you've seen the film Wonderwall -
Isn't the main character, Professor Collins, an Autistic?
(he lives alone, doesn't seem to have any friends, seems to have rigid routines, needs a note to remind himself to turn off lights, gets totally obsessed with his beautiful neighbour, etc.)
[Wonderwall was released around 1968 or 1969. Director: Joe Massot. Actors: Jack MacGowran, Jane Birkin, Richard Wattis etc. Music: George Harrison]
Your post made me have an idea!
When I saw the word wonderwall it made me think of stonewall, which roughly speaking was action taken by gay people in 1969 to try and defend their rights, that spilled into riots.
We do need to defend out rights, but what if autistics had a peaceful version of stonewall, called wonderwall? Something that would attract attention in a positive way and cause wonderment.
Is that possible to create?
I'm not sure. Would be amazing to have a group meet somewhere prominent and create a wall of artwork there and then, like street artists do. With chalks or pastels, a huge infinity sign maybe.
And call it wonderwall, a large visual representation of the community.
Maybe in a few areas on the same day, as CND people used to do.
Obviously permission would need to be sought from a local council.

Amy, that's a wonderful idea.
Let's make it near buckingham palace, to get the media's attention.
*we will have to get permission from your queen though
I have no idea how to really arrange something like that. Would it be a good event for APD?
Anyone interested to participate?
Oh, how fun! Wish I could participate from the States.
Have one in the States, all the people would not have to be autistic, anyone supportive or interested could join in too.
Argh, I am the only autie in LA. I haven't been able to engender any interest in forming a local group, or else I would definitely have one. But if I did, maybe on my school campus, could it be officially AFF affiliated?

Details are in the Wiki.
All in all, it's just another brick in the wall
Ooh! I like the sound of this.

Wonderwall is also a famous song by the UK band Oasis.
The Wiki says this about Oasis's song:
The song takes it name from the 1968 album Wonderwall Music by George Harrison, at the time still a member of the Beatles. Harrison's album was in fact a soundtrack to the film, Wonderwall, but the film has faded into relative obscurity.
