Hi there, I found your site here a few weeks ago, during my explorations online, and after a bit of quality lurking have decided to introduce myself, and say hello.
I read an article about someone being diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome in a magazine a few months ago, which seemed to ring true and may explain how I've got to where I am now, and why things don't seem to be working very well for me (expecially at the moment). So it'll be true to say I've got my suspicions at the moment, which I have spent some time talking to a friend about, asking him about how I come across to other people.
He reckons that people can find me 'aloof' or arrogant quite frequently as I won't connect with them very well, not really listening too well to peoples problems or concerns. Apparently I am also quite shocking at picking up on bad feelings between groups of people, or office politics. I am certainly not very good at things like eye contact.
I find groups of people with whom I'll have to interact quite difficult, so going to the pub and stuff like that, but go out to clubs a bit - in this position I'll be able to keep to myself and just get into the music (I am very much into techno (dance music) and spent a lot of time either making my own, or DJing... much of my spare money goes on records and other stuff) Most of the people I talk to (which isn't a lot) are into the same things as me, so at the moment its people who are into techno, when I was into rock climbing it was other climbers etc, so that I can waffle on about it without boring people.
I find it difficult to make close friends though as I do find it very difficult to judge peoples opinions of me, whether they like me or if I have done something to upset them, so I find it hard to get past the stage of just knowing someone. I have had people talking to me about their problems, but usually find I don't put myself in their shoes, rather I will try and look for solutions for them and discuss solutions and outcomes.
Anyway, a quick introduction to myself, and thank you for the site - Its been interesting reading through other peoples stories, and its helped me in looking around for more information.
