But at bottom it's just another way of preying on the fears of parents of autistic children, and turning ignorance and superstition about the Spectrum into a profit.

When my children were small, I asked them if they remembered anything from before they were born.
My daughter answered, "I was asleep most of the time."
My son said, "I didn't like being all wrapped up, and I did a lot of kicking to try to get out."
Very accurate descriptions, but no past lives.

This whole indigo thing is apparently just another farce brought to you by teh church of scientology.

Better not chelate the kids then. I'd hate to miss out on the "new era of peace and love" because of the curbies.

I like the theory at any rate - if only because I get my own group of cultists, as opposed to my own group of people who watched Dr Phil's radio show.
Shame it's all BS...
(Although, their goals do sort of fall in line with AFF's, empowerment of minorities and application of the kids unique traits, make society feel better about these apparent outcasts... The enemy of my enemy is my friend kind of thing)

I once took a course in Introductory Psychology. During this course, one of our class assignments was to present a disorder usually manifested during childhood to the rest of the class. We were divided into separate groups in order to do this. Every group then chose a disorder. This could be anything from HFA to Asperger's to ADHD. Well, this one group chose "ADD". The leader of this group was a woman in her 50's. Tall, thin, straw colored hair. The kind of woman who likes to choose "emotion" over "logical thinking". Very, very, very NT. And stark raving mad, to boot, as it would turn out.
After a week of carefully researching the symptoms we had chosen as a group, we all take turns in getting up in front of the rest of the class and reviewing them. We start off with HFA. It goes very well, the class really seem to understand what autism is and we feel we've done a good job in presenting our symptom of choice in a fair and unbiased way. We take a bow and sit down. Then comes the turn to this woman and her group. Lawd have mercy...
"Do any of you know what Indigo Children are", she asks. I, who am previously familiar with this specific bit of NT insanity shudder. She's taking a class in psychology and mentioning "Indigo Children"? Certainly she couldn't really be this stupid, now could she..?
Never underestimate the stupidity of an NT woman who likes New Age and tends to choose "emotions" over "intelligence". I found that out the hard way on that day.
So here's this woman, standing in front of an entire Introductory Psychology class, babbling away thusly:
"Sooooo these chiiiiiiildreeeen with ADD, riiiiiiiight? (She had a tendency to draw each syllable out to extreme lengths for some reason) Wellll, many saaaaayyy theyre the next leveeeeeeeeeeel in huuuuuuman evoluuuuuuuuuuution, right? And maaaaaaaaaaany of them have special pooooooowers, right? Like, heeeeealing, right? And making people reeeeeembeeeeeeering their paaaaaaast liiiiiiiiiiveees, right? Aaaaaaaaaannnnnnd..."
At this point, I just cannot let the pain go on any further. I readily interrupt:
"STOP RIGHT THERE! You can't seriously be touting this bullshit in a class of Introductory Psychology, now can you?! Do you have any idea what 'scientific evidence' even is??"
"Heeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyy noooooooooooowwwwww", she says with the calm tones of a chronic pot smoker, "Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii diiiiiiiidn't iiiiiiinteeeerupt yooooooouuuuu while yooooooooooouuuuuuuuu were taaaaaaalking!"
Wow. Just wow.
She eventually ended up failing Introductory Psychology. Gee, I wonder why.
One of her female friends (who also liked crystals, New Age and choosing her emotions over her intellect) came up to me about a week later and asked for help on breaking the "demonic code" she had "recieved in her dreams". When asked what she was on about, she explained to me she had recieved the name of a "mighty demon" in her sleep and "needed my help" in understanding it". I asked her why she wanted to talk to me about this nonsense, and she replied "because you are smart".
Ugh.
"Now, the name of the demon was 'Trikarnerak'", she says whilst drawing for breath and allmost starting to cry, "What do you think it means???"
"You need to see a shrink", I say to her, "You're severely mentally ill. You do understand that, don't you?"
She walks away without saying anything after that comment. Sadly, I don't think she ever did see a shrink. Maybe one of the Indigo Children eventually cured her, though, one never knows.
The NT, folks. They rule the world. Why demand scientific evidence when you can just invent some nonsense based on "psychic evidence" and "demonic dreams"?

I'm sorry, Peter, please don't be mad, but I found your post above hilarious--seriously laughing out loud material. You have redeemed my Friday night. Thank you!

Ooh, spooky! It's Saturday evening here in Downunder, a full day's timewarp away. Probably that damned demon of Peter's is playing with the space/time continuinuinuum again.

You're very welcome. And I find it kinda funny too, in retrospect. There was nothing even remotely funny about it when it happened, though. It was just scary to plumb those mind-numbing depths of pure stupidity. Remember that people like this woman are allowed to vote and to have normal day jobs. Sometimes they even run for office.
See? Sca-ry!

 Good one Peter. A comic sketch perhaps?

Good one, peter... Maybe they went to the wrong classes by mistake, and ended up in psychology rather than psychic nonsense 101. Frankly, non-evidence based theories should never be applied as practice.

Ever been to church?
Also, that picture was amusing.
