Tomorrow I am going to ask my counselor about Asperger's Syndrome, if he thinks I might have it, and if he can refer me to someone who is qualified to diagnose the condition.

I have printed some information from the NAS website to give to him, as I do not know if he knows anything about AS.

Wish me luck!

(I'm scared.)

Good luck!

When I consulted my General Physician on obtaining an AS diagnosis here in Sweden, he hardly knew anything about the condition, which I found odd. I was somewhat disheartened by this, but once I met my psychatrist it quickly wore off as she understood me perfectly. Bringing along printed information to show your G.P or counselor is thusly probably a good idea, since it's not for certain that he or she would know the specifics of Asperger's Syndrome or what it entails.

Good luck Tallulah.
good luck
Whether you are officially diagnosed or not, you will still be you, in all your complexity.  Good luck.
My counselor said he didn't have any experience with AS, and that he was pleased that I brought along the information. He said he'd be very interested to read it. He's going to talk to the psychologist and the psychiatrist about where to go from here. He has also spoken to my GP.

I am being 'treated' for depression, which is why I see the counselor, but we haven't really been getting anywhere. He says he sees things which seem to be symptoms of depression, so we focus on those things, but just don't get anywhere. He thinks AS may be the explanation.

So I think this is good news.
I'm glad things worked out for you. Congratulations!
I have my next appointment with my counsellor on Monday. Hopefully we can talk about the possibility that I have Asperger's a bit more. I hope he has had time to do a bit of research about it.
