I've found the perfect way to "come out as an aspie" Smile I mailed about the petition against CAN to my whole adressbook (which contains about 10 persons, including collegues).

I didn't expect any of them to sign, but 3 of them already did. And it made me wonder... I'm not talking about people like in CAN who say that autism is epedemic, but i think most NT's aren't ignorant.
How can i blame them of ignorance, while they just are having a hard time trying to understand me and i even fail in understanding them myself. Why blame someone for not understanding? Why blame someone for not doing what i can't do myself?
Understanding and accepting are two different things. Even after alternative information and reasoning people will still come out with the most mind-numbing concepts of what reality is like for you. Some people will choose to be ignorant because it is easier then actually using their brain (and I'm not just refering to NT's here.).

It's like there is no commonly accepted reason as to why homosexuals are the way they are but some accept that people can be different and some don't.

(I hope that makes sense, I only just awoke so my brain is still a little bleh!)
No problem, but alfonzo has a point; we do ourselves no favours by generalising indiscriminately. "Ignorant", after all, just means "not knowing", it need not be willfull, nor because of stupidity, and the cure is education, not insults!
ignorance can have 2 meanings:

1.honest "not knowing better" - this is the kind i can personally tolerate and forgive

2.knowing the truth and ignoring it - this is the kind i cannot tolerate
knowing the truth and ignoring it - this is the kind i cannot tolerate

I believe it is often referred to as being stupid or lying. Politicians are experts at it but for some reason we ask them to run our country for us and then blame them when it all goes wrong  :?
And then get curious as to why anti-Americanism still exists Big Grin.

And the second kind of ignorance that Gareth stated is the only type that I see as ignorance.
Anti-Americanism is getting worse by the day along with anti-british feelings because our government is in the Bushes back pocket :/

Oh, and that whole illegal war fiasco isn't helping either :/

So you're one of the people who asked them? You dispicable cad!

Me, I never got the choice; politicians where already running the country by the time I'd noticed, and it seems they can only be replaced by other politicians!

Jobs for the boys, as ever...

So you're one of the people who asked them? You dispicable cad!

Not me personally. My vote went elsewhere...
Bush wasn't even suppose to win. He got the minority of votes, believe it or not...

AND I HAVE PROOF!... Just not right now. Go google it up.
I don't believe politicians are lyers or are in it for the money (but then again, people do call me naif   )

I truly believe that politicians are in it because of their conviction. That conviction won't always be the right one in our regard ofcourse, but if they we're in it for the money they really chose the wrong profession.

And someone has to lead the country, right?

I sure hope Kerry will win the election, though... As stated here earlier, anti-americanism is really groing.
I find it surprising that after a clear attack on America because of anti-americanism, the governement decides to feed these hatred by attacking Iraq. For me just another prove of the real reason for this war.
Like an American soldier in Iraq said: " If they had coca-cola in Iraq, we wouldn't be fighting here".
Instead of taking on the real cause for 9/11 (the screaming injustice and inegality in the world) America insists on showing the world they are still the leaders of the world.
And don't forget the pressure of the weaponindustry (not to mention oil).

If all those million dollars weaponindustry profits off were used for liberty, equality and fraternity, worldwide, much more problems would be solved. Only then the world could really be a safe place.

(excuse me for my extremely bad english today, can't think straight)
I truly believe that politicians are in it because of their conviction.

I too believe that a lot of them are in it for their convictions:

Not the BNP  Sad

I live in Belgium, Flanders and we have the Vlaams Blok here, a flemish national party that strives for an independent Flanders. Vlaams Blok has 30% of the voters in Antwerp, to the disgrace of almost an entire nation.

Vlaams Blok discriminates people on behalf of their race, religion, sexual preferences,.... and i'm quite sure BNP does too, considering they have "a brotherhood" (they also have a brotherhood with FN in France, nationalist parties in Holland, Croatia, Austria,....)
They were actually convicted by the supreme court because of racism.
70% does not constitute almost an entire nation. They sound rather popular.
