It's down to different perceptions of reality Link! Here's a discussion for those who are interested (and my post on page 2 is particularly relevant :mrgreen

It's a sad fact of life that society is driven by the people to whom emotional considerations are paramount; they subsequently lay great store on social skills, and seek to impose them on others as, if having acquired the social standing they think they deserve, but no one else acknowledged it, then it would be essentially worthless!
This is why, with hind-sight, my headmasters at school hated me; if they told me something that I disagreed with, then that's how it remained! To them, the whole point of being "the boss" is so that one can force others to agree! Such people cannot see the point of, say, wanting to understand why stars go nova etc., they can do nothing about it so it is of no interest. To them, "reality" is about gaining power over others, and they can't understand any other view point.
Example; check out the job ads for engineers and you'll often find a reference to "making the move to management". Managers assume everyone else wants to be one, and when I told my bosses expressly that I didn't want to compete with them, they assumed I was lying, and gave me loads of pointless grief as a result. This is the real reason companies prefer younger employees (forget the "dynamism" crap, it's pure marsh gas) as they know anyone who's not a manager by age thirty has no desire to be one, and so is not subject to their control; if you don't care about being "promoted" then you've no reason to pretend that the boss is anything other than the jerk he is in reality, and they can't stand this! It doesn't matter if it's true or not (such, to them, is
unreal) as they became bosses in the expectation that they'd be automatically admired as a result.
Not all NT's are like this; in fact most hate the whole business, but, being able to read the signals, they know what is required of them, and don't dare to behave otherwise. Aspies, on the other hand, tend not to catch on (and tend not to care once they do; it's contrary to our "reality") and so we get actively discriminated against as a result.
So should we try harder? Problematical! I find it very hard to admire a class of people who's whole intent is to exploit others to the utmost, who can
never have enough wealth (there are always more expensive status symbols available...) and will seek to acquire more even as the world is starving, or even as the environment is collapsing about our ears ("tommorrow" is not part of their "reality").
Frankly, the people who drive this interpersonal-skills claptrap, are an unrepresentative minority, and scum. The world would be a much better place without them! Are NTs the problem? Not directly, but they do have an unfortunate tendency to believe what they are told and to respect and obey "authority". Perhaps we can educate them out of it?
