I take 50mcg of the hormone thyroxine a day to replace the hormone my non-existent thyroid should have been producing. I don't know if there are any 'natural' herbs or food I could eat that make thyroxine.
And since I've been on it, my pulse rate has gone from 42 beats per minute to a more normal 70, and I've been losing half a kilo in weight per week. But I wouldn't advise people with normal pulse rates to take thyroxine as a weight-loss pill, because it would probably end up making their pulses sky-rocket and give them all heart attacks.
Do these quackery merchants ever stop to think what their ill-informed mumbo jumbo can persuade people to do?

This reminds me of why I get into twenty fights a day on the Tom Cruise boards of the IMDB. Every day, some tosser tries to claim there is a shred of credibility to Cruise's rants, and every day, someone like me shoots them down in flames.
The question that should be repeatedly asked of these people is "why will you not allow an evidentary examination of your claims?".
That is kind of my point. We need to start highlighting what utter cranks these people are.

People can work much better for the good of mankind if they are free from financial concern. A more appropriate way of putting it, if you refer to Hubbard, is to point out that his cult's wealth does not benefit its members nor the society around it.
There's one thing for sure - I would never want to have any of those colonics. :razz: They wouldn't be a whole lot of fun - the idea doesn't sit well with me at all.
