This site has the usual patronising stuff pandering to the "Cure brigade".
Pictures of lonely, sad kids, and no mention of adults on the spectrum. Do they think that kids with autism never grow up?
It is so sad that they have to state "handed a life sentence", if sites like that didnt tell parents autism was a life sentence, then there could be more positivity in the first place.

perhaps this could be brought up at the meeting - if we all e-mail these people and tell them how patronising/insulting their language is. It probably wont change them at all but that should not stop us from asserting our position.

I agree duffkidneys, even if we dont change their opinions at least they will be aware that there are those of us that strongly disagree with their attitude, some of them literally feel they are saving all autisitcs by looking for a cure, they have no concept of adult autistics who can accept themselves.

OMG.. reading further.. tons of stories from parents who call themselves "poop peepers" who like to monitor and describe their kid's poops in forums. Man, that's kinky.
Hey maybe they should look at ratemypoo.com. People actually send in pictures of theirs or their kid's "doings" to be rated on that website. I feel sorry for those poor kids if their parents are continually perving on their poops. Surely they deserve some privacy?
