I like dogs, and cats, but I've got a cat right now. Her name is Savage. When we first got her, she bit the hand that fed her. Thus her name, though she's gotten a lot tamer since then. Now we just call her "Savvy."

Right now, she's not impressed with me, typing away at the computer when I could be petting her.
Well.. my nick should answer this one. Smile

Though I don't mind dogs - if they're well trained.
If they seek attention with a look and are prepared to look for it else where when I've had enough. - Fine

If they come bounding up and leap at me.. or if they're little dogs that incist on jumping up. - not fine.

Yappy barks also throw me off, especially loud yappy barks from small dogs that don't shut the *bleep* up when told. (any dog bark does this to an extent but yappy is worse)

Cats are quiet and just sit there. I can't have a cat though, my boyfriend is both allergic, and doesn't like cats.

Edit: Oh yeah.. Ferrets. My boyfriend and I both LOVE ferrets. We can't justify having a pet at the moment, though.
Cats and dogs both seem to me to make much kinder friends than most humans.
Yeah.
:'-(

I miss my cat!!!
I can't stand dogs. Cats are the only creatures that I find easy to befriend.

Why do the dog people always get catagorized as social? I have two dogs, and one of them is possibly the most anti-social animal that I have ever seen, including humans. My other dog is just innocent and cute. I'm tired of all the cat people running over us dog people because they're jealous of the clear superiority of the dog over the cat. Never seen a dog that does nothing but cough up furballs and lies around all day.

Maybe your antisocial dog is Aspergian! =D

I'm a cat person, and I love cats. They are calm creatures, and very silent, and you hardly ever have to give them a bath.

Dogs, cats, humans, and many other animals besides have this great thing called PERSONALITY.

The best thing about PERSONALITY is that you can't say, for instance that all cats are loners, or that all dogs are social. (Despite how these animals have been characterised in our imagination.)

I used to have a cat who was the most social animal I have ever come across. He was affectionate (Except when it came to sharing food), playful, and even got a little bit sad when our other cat died. (Although he'd never been on the friendliest terms when they were both alive.)

He was so affectionate that my mum used to joke that he thought he was a dog. (And I suspect he may have been a little *** -- certainly not at the pinnacle of feline intelligence   )
Dog, because I like spending time with my dog who sort of acts human like. For example if you keep talking to him he'll breathe in and loudly exhale or you can call him to come, he'll come and see its you and then walk away.
scare of cats  and scared of dogs in general, bad experice with both.
I love animals, more of a loner human-wise.  I like cats because they're so low-maintenance - they have their own lives LOL.  I like dogs because they form such strong emotional bonds.  And animals have always been one of my 'fascination' subjects.

THis is true. My mom got two cats so that they won't feel all alone at home by themselves if we ever had to all leave home.

And the cats don't seem to like it when we all leave home. When we all come back, there they are, rushing to the door as soon as they hear and smell our presence.

When one person isn't in the house or all three people (Me, my mom and my dad) are all occupied, our black cat may complain loudly in the hallway. I think this means he wants attention, and no one is giving it to him.

Our cats like each other. They are willing to sleep in the same room, and they take their greetings (a whiff of the ***) well, unless Charlie is in a bad mood. She's like a typical NT female: pretty moody. I would say that she was going into heat if she weren't spayed. When she's in a bad mood, she'll hiss at the black cat and get into a play fight with him. She usually wins because she's older and therefore stronger. I know it's only a play fight because if it were a real fight, there would be blood everywhere. Cats fight dirty. Just like humans immediately go for the face or the nuts (if any), cats are just as nasty. These fights get annoying, because they usually occur in the living room, and sometimes we're playing a videogame or watching a movie there.

The cats tend to like sitting in the room where the humans are. If Charlie can smell the presence of Dad beyond the closed door to his little music studio, she will scratch on the door as her way of asking anyone in earshot to open the door.

The cats also like to sleep on things that are both comfortable and smell like us. That why you'll always find your cat (or your dog) sleeping on your bed, or on the area of your couch where you tend to sit. It's also why cats don't just start sleeping in new bedding baskets. They smell foreign when you just get them and most cats would avoid that. Once they smell like the rest of the house or the owners (which probably smell similar anyway), they may start to sit in the basket.

(Man, I wish I had the cat's senses.)

I think animals fulfill a need in us to “not” be alone...

I agree with no wish to be compared to an animal, but do wish some people I know could adopt the good “traits” this friend of mine did show...

My long past “best friend” was a non-judgmental, caring best friend that always “loved” no matter what... well, except when cats were around... Gesundheit!   Arrfff, Arrfff!
Don’t get me wrong; I could get along with cats if not for the dander... (Sneaking onto my pillow... Gesundheit!  ).

This is not an actual picture of my past best buddy, but looks just like him, miss the fellow:

Arrfff, Arrfff...
I'm 100% cat person.  They're usually so much more independent and graceful.

I've known a couple of dogs that I've gotten along with, but most of them always want to chase, lick, or nip me....sensory hell.....so I don't like dogs in general.

Also, cats smell better.

When my cat was really little, he used to fall asleep in the hood of my jacket, or sometimes wriggle all the way down my sleeves, poke his head out, and fall asleep there.

Then he got too big.
