Isn't it preferable when folk make a case for their views in their own words, and then perhaps give a link for sources, or further information, much like a footnote.

One can't be clicking on loads of links to find what something is all about, and be left to wonder if a point of some kind is being made.

Otherwise it might well be construed as the advertising of views, websites &c with which AFF has little or nothing in common, or might even perhaps disagree.

Amy, I just removed the link to Aspergian Pride from my sig line when I noticed how many posts I had made here... anyone who wants to find my site can just click on the www button anyway, so there's no sense cluttering up AFF with hundreds of links to it!

Bonnie as its all the same link it wont matter. The problem with 100's of different links is that google counts them all, and also we cannot check the content on them, as Stella says.

Anyone who has a link in their sig to their site is fine.

If you have too many (different) links posted on this site it affects your rating on Google? Is that right? This seems like something important for us to know...I'd never heard about that before.

The amount of links that sites have affects their google rating. A reasonable amount is fine, but if we get 50 or so new limks in one day its a lot.

To be healthy it should be balanced if possible with links towards our site too, from other sites.
Thats why people often do link exchanges.

But we will not be gaining 50 links in one day, we may possibly gain 1 link per day from other sites.

Thanks for explaining that, I'd never have known otherwise. It's good to keep in mind.
