I am really starting to get irritated by the amount of bias in these articles. The negative use of language is just too great.
"brain overgrowth",
Who defines what is normal growth? To say "overgrowth" makes it sound like a disease process. Is it not that one of the limiting factors in human evolution is the limit on rebirth head size. It could be described more in context of the post birth brain development that occurs in all babies.
It does state:
"5 percent greater brain growth", but this statement is out-weighed by the rest of the article. Text can be used to weave anything out of the truth that may be behind it.
Sorry if I am ranting, the term overgrowth just make me
Eugenics in disguise. Beware.
Statistically, that means I should have met at least half a dozen by now. I have met one who strikes me as having so-called normal intelligence, and he has had some pretty radical brain surgery in order to stop constant seizures.
Bronwyn, the woman who is basically fighting normie prejudice against autistic children in Queensland's school system, has a formula she applies to IQ tests. If the testee is an Aspie, add five to twenty points to the final result. IQ tests are a test of normalism, not intellect. But that tells me quite a lot about the mainstream's perception of us in the intellectual sense.
I do not believe an enlargement is beneficial, period. After studying the methods by which microprocessors are made faster or more efficient, I think the guy who said "bigger is better" was the worst kind of simpleton, to put it nicely. A faster front side bus, more and faster RAM, et cetera.
I think you would be hard pressed to find any "experts" who agree on what a so-called normal brain even looks like.
I am not doubting the enlargement. What I am doubting is whether it makes any difference whatsoever. They used to measure bumps in people's heads in order to determine aspects of their personality, but that was dismissed as quackery in the 19th or even 18th century, not exactly noted as times of scientific progress. I doubt we are ever going to get accurate details on the brain's workings until either the ban on vivisection is lifted or we get more accurate imaging methods.
The IQ thing goes something like this. On an IQ test, you might encounter a question like "what do apples and oranges have in common?". Anything other than "they are fruits" is a fail, and a deduction, regardless of how accurate they might be. And your typical Aspie might respond that you can get juice out of them (true) or that they explode real good when you hit them in mid-flight with a cricket bat (also true). The IQ test is not concerned with the accuracy of your answers, just the normality of them. It actively punishes the testee for being neurologically different. Hence, this woman says add five to twenty points to every IQ score taken by Aspies.
I have to buy men's "L" size hats as women's Large just do not fit. And my IQ is 130. Yes we're smarter than the NTs and that is just one reason so many of them dislike us. To think differently is to be damned. And if there is an "Autistic Epidemic" as is being reported more and more in the media, (assuming Autistics were just not undiagnosed in the past) then there will be more and more of us being born.
Subconciously, I believe, some of them feel threatened.

Cool! That puts me in the "genius" category! Maybe they'll pay me more at my work...

Hah! Don't I wish...
If this formula is correct, and coming from this source I have little reason to believe otherwise, my IQ would range from minor genius to mere teen points short of Einsteinian. Fat lot of good it does me.
And of course the normies feel threatened. They should. Can you imagine what Albert Einstein would have been like if he had been told "it's okay for the normies to hurt you, but it is not okay for you to fight back", as I was during my schooling years? World Wars III and IV would have passed already.
