Strange thing. I used to be the same way about mashed potatoes. Now-a-days I don't mind the lumps so much.
But the one things I absolutely despise and cannot stand is onions. I have the flavor, I hate the texture, and I hate the way their pigments will seep into anything starchy and impart their nasty taste onto my breads or potatoes.
The only way I'll eat an onion is if its minced and mixed so finely that you can't detect it, or if it's fully caramelized.
Likes: chicken & turkey, mashed potatoes, pasta, rice pilaf (any buttery cooked starch is delicious!), scrambled eggs, mac & cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, chocolate (esp. premium ice cream), buttercream frosting (the cake is unnecessary), orange juice, apple juice, grape juice, French fries, pretty much anything fatty or salty or sweet. I'm risking my heart, I suppose; my cholesterol is too high. People say, "Eat oatmeal! It will lower your cholesterol!"
I will eat oatmeal only at gunpoint. The texture is an insurmountable obstacle.
I also dislike lima beans (unless they are thoroughly soaked & cooked as in my friend's lima bean-barley soup), peas, asparagus, but oatmeal is the real villain. Hated it as a child, hate it now.
I used to hate oatmeal also but I discovered a nice way of cooking it ..
Soften some oatmeal in abit of warm water then boil a little pot of milk and add the oatmeal mixture in and then mix until it gets kind of thick (dont let the bottom burn) then I add brown sugar and a pinch of salt.
Add some butter on top after pouring it into a plate. Cinnamon can also be added on top.
I love it this way!! Another way I like oatmeal is just dry with added chocolate milk on top (try it, I learned that from my german grandma and have eaten it growing up)
As for my favourite foods, well, I guess they are too many to mention.
Middle eastern food (Iraqi, egyptian, lebanese, turkish), western food, italian, chinese - korean and asian, german, indian and pakistani, south american and mexican.
I love veggies, vegetable soup is one of my favourites with small pasta added into it and i'm vegetarian so no meat in my diet. Fish is a must though, salmon, hammour, perch, mackreal, tuna, shrimp, octopus, scallops, muscles and clams, crab.
Deserts: middle eastern deserts, dates, figs, dry fruits, honey, cake, chocolate cake (donuts and things that are too sweet, oily, and creamy I don't go for) neither do I like hard things like cookies except if they were freshly baked or soft kind.
Love natural fruit juice and veggie juices, and fresh fruit.
OH and SALAD! Love to invent new salad recipes!
Likes:
Real chocolate, red meat, fish, waterfowl, turkey, fruit (of most sorts but epsecially passion fruit, blood oranges, kiwis, and melons), corn, heirloom cucumbers (only vegetable I'll eat), Chips, mild cheese (Mozerella, Munster, Oaxaquenyo, Provalone, Monterrey Jack, Havarti, etc.), comida picante, bread with flavor, juice, maple syrup.
Dislikes:
Fake food (fake chocolate, fake maple syrup, fake munster, you name it), chicken (unless fried, it has to be the blandest, most tasteless meat on earth, followed closely by pork), arthopods (Shrimp or grasshopper, I don't care, I won't eat it), Mollusks, most supermarket fruit, most vegetables, bland food, food pre-chopped, food mixed together, excessively sweet foods, wonder bread, grape jelly, marshmellow fluff, etc.
Basically foods intended for the average American (and hence high on chemicals and low on flavor), or mixed together as to be unrecognizable, or foods that have nothing unhealthy whatsoever about them, I refuse to eat.
Like: Vanilla Ice cream(with milk), ice tea or Coke (with real lime juice),
I do not eat alot of dead animals but I prefer beef when I do(with
Worcester sauce). I tend to eat a dangerous amount of sugary products.
Since I'm in a small southern US town I likely eat alot of strange dishes
you never heard of: fried green tomatoes, cushaw squash(cook into
a sweet dish) , purple hull peas, hot water corn bread(fried )
Dislike: Well I will eat bananas but I'm not crazy about them, mangos
, strange animals and guts of animals. I doubt I would try raw fish. I
hate over cooked limp pasta(I would rather die).
