I'm kind of hesitant to put out this post, cause i don't know how you feel about these things, but i was wondering if you ever used or are still using drugs?

I've been smoking marihuana daily for about 10 years now. I'm aware of the fact that this may confirm the image the outside world may have of me, of being an asocial, lazy freak, but i have never felt that smoking joints became a problem in my daily life.
And i'm not saying i'm proud to be a "pot-smoker", but i feel that marihuana gives me the chance to put my mind at ease, once a day. When i'm stoned i always get the feeling that i can think things really through.
Also i once saw a portrait of a guy with AS on dutch television and he was talking about marihuana in the same way, how it gave him the chance to take things less serious, to get away from things every once and a while.

But until now i've heard no one talking bout drugs on any of the boards.
Do you or did you ever use any drugs?
Used cig's for a few days, but the guy supplying them pulled me off a bit before he went to bootcamp so I didn't get addicted too heavily and have nic fits. Best decision someone's ever made for me...

Other than that and alchohol, I havn't used any other illegal drugs(for my age, or illegal in general). Though I hear that a joint when your extremely stressed out or depressed can really help out...
Maybe i must add that the belgian law is rather loose when it concerns marihuana. It's legal to own 5 grams of it, but it's illegal to buy or sell it Smile :?
We have a free speech policy here Alfonzo so dont worry  Smile
I suspect I'm atypical insofar that I tried dope in college and found it a big yawn, and I much prefer alcohol, so I'm a bit suspicious of these people who are trying to claim that regular use leads to (as opposed to gives relief from) neuroses; it's the chicken and egg situation so beloved of the anti-drug lobby as one can find "evidence" to prove it either way! As in 63% of heroin users "started" on dope (implying causality, and ignoring the far more daming fact that 97% "started" on tea...). As well to be aware of the possibility though, and I wouldn't take any drug on a daily basis, and especially not long term; every dope head I know cycles their use.

Speed on the other hand was frighteningly effective, giving me utter confidence in a social situation (and you can imagine how addictive that would be to an Aspie) and with hindsight I'm glad I couldn't get my hands on any more. I've since seen so much research about how amphetamines rewire the brain permanently (and not for the better) and many authorities now consider them more addictive than heroin; besides, the after effects are awfull!

I've never tried extasy, not from what I've heard both about side effects and impurity issues, do I wish to. I can have a good time on booze, and am now well versed in keeping the effects under control. Nose candy, which I got to try once, just seems a faster more short term way of getting the same high as from alcohol, and it's expensive, so of no interest basically; I'll stick to real ale and fine wines (and perhaps an occasional malt whiskey or genèvre...)
Gwynfryn,

As we already talked about alcohol, you will know by now that my knowledge concerning liquers etc is not of an utterly amazing level  Smile

I can enjoy getting drunk from time to time, though, but mostly when i'm with my parents (parental guidance Smile) I feel more comfortable with it than.
As far as other drugs are concerned, i never tried any, nor am i planning on doing so. Don't need no chemicals.
Good points alfonso! My parents gave me a glass of wine (especially at Christmass!) from an early age, so when I could'nt obtain it, it wasn't such a big deal!
A member has to be over 13 to join without parental consent, therefore it is up to a parent to review the site and decide if it is suitable.
We feel that all our topics have been suitable for viewing by over 13 year olds.
may i add that we ensure no dangerous or obscene material is posted but anything controversal is allowed under free-speech.
Unless it was in a genuine context, anything meant to be deliberately offensive would be edited.
If parents are concerned about what kids can view they should use censor ware, the ultimate responsibilty lies with them.
Alfonzo the post is fine, as far as I am aware we have no very young members, please dont worry.
a 13 year old is old enough to understand how much drugs can screw you up. we will censor obscene or dangerous posts here (dangerous meaning encouraging sucidide, self harm and/or violence)
well, i've seen 10 year olds discussing sex....

However, I don't feel as confident as you that all the material on this site is suitable for 13 yr olds. I think I would feel slightly uncomfortable discussing certain subjects in the presence of young children that's all.

You sound like a parent, but even so, have you no memory of when you were thirteen (or younger)? I know that what I most suffered from at that age was societaly imposed ignorance; I was in a constant stew of wanting to learn, and people kept telling me "you're to young to understand" (which I suspect in many cases meant; "I don't understand so how can I explain to you?").

Look at the other side: Kids are inundated with what amounts to establishment lies; they're practically told that, if you take one drag of weed, you'll become a heroin addict! So if they have doubts, and the first pimp who manages to smooth-talk them is a crack dealer? Most will get lucky and meet regular dope heads who have suffered no ill effects, but then, won't they tend to disbelieve all government info? Like about pregnancy and stuff; it's a dangerous game the establishment plays, and it's not played for the advantage of youth!

At least on sites like this, they get a more balanced picture (and don't imagine for a moment kids won't find any site they want) so I'm in total agreement with the admin that it should be an open discussion, and if anyone should set up shop trying to promote the dangerous stuff, even if Amy and Gareth should miss it, other will present the alternatives in short order!

Ooops! Checking back I realise I've missed a few posts (bit of  habit when I'm stewed; it's been a tough day...) but what the hell, I'll leave it unchanged!

[Gareth, feel free to correct any glitches, you must have a good understanding of my style by now...I only dropped in to check my connection (after a major virus blow out) and hadn't mean to contribute...]

I think that people with addiction problems should have a support forum on internet online 24/7.

I've mentioned this site before - the site looks a bit spammy and I wouldn't advise buying their products (they sell books and DVDs) but the material on the site is very very good.

I'd also ask everyone to please not promote illegal drug use of any kind here - just need to reiterate that Smile
