I would try and meet another aspie, at least if you didn't have a relationship you could be friends, and it could be a whole new experience of mutual understanding
Can't people tell we're different as soon as they meet us? I feel sure they can....

Stella
When do you tell a person you're dating who is most likely an Aspie in denial that they're like you..? Especially if doctors assure them they're scizo unstead :?
Have you known them a long time to really doubt their dx?
Schizophrenia can show itself in bouts, and people with it may not display specific characteristics often, especially if they are consistent with their medication.
And because autistic-spectrum disorders are reaching epidemic proportions, maybe that means we're in fact superior to everyone else!

Of course, I'm just kidding.

I think we've discussed the advantages an aspie might have in certain situations in another thread a couple of weeks ago. Even being a troll might have advantages    but I just can't see them

AlCapone, this is your second and last warning about trolling, take it elsewhere, we don't want it.
Sadly, intellectual superiority does no longer fit into Survival of the Fittest. That is how trolls are born.
I was agreeing with AlCapone being a troll, I have no problem with you. I am simply saying that in the world around us brain power is being weeded out for idiocy, athleticism, and personability(probably not a word). If I fully understand what you said, then I have to disagree with you. You think that the world is growing, becoming smarter and discarding old social orders. I do not believe this. The world is growing dumber, people try less and less to do anything, your baseball players are more well known than most famous historical figures, and the people that would develop your Abstract World are a quickly falling breed. Inventions have become less and less each year, people complain more than they help. I have often thought about an abstract world, where things dreamt of become reality, and there is only one way to do it. You must find a way to induce REM sleep on a consistant basis, then go into a lucid dream. There are a lot of stipulations and problems, but this is the only method I can think of that could avoid somehow reversing humanity's backwards tailspin.
I hate to sound like the Unabomber here, but technology is setting back evolution. The more we become reliant on computers and technology, the slower evolution needs to be. To sound radical for a brief moment, long ago in the Neolithic Era if you were not contributing something to the work force natural selection would kill you or keep you from spawning. This is now happening much less. I am not saying that this is necessarily a 100% bad thing, as life has gotten easier. I am just saying that technological advances will slow as the people born from generations, where nature made it harder to work, will eventually die off. There will be some advances, but there is a lot of work to be done for a technology run world, a lot of prejudices to demolish, a lot of bugs to be taken care of. Those will almost certainly demolish any hopes of the Abstract World in your generation. I hate to constantly rain on parades, but I just want to get my 2 cents in.
It went from survival of the fittest to reproduction of the fittest to sucess of the fittest. Soon it will probably just be survival of the conformists, all those who do not go along with the assimilation of all of humanity's low points into the workforce, no matter how bumbling and incompetant they are at everything, will be killed. My only hope is that this happens past my generation (or those of my progeny, should I choose to have any).

Quote:
Do you really think it will be that bad?

You use the future tense as though this is a new thing. Look at Pol Pot, he is the great example of this. He forced everybody to do one thing and one thing only. If you blinked at him too much he killed you. He rounded up intellectuals that were not effective farmers and tortured and killed them. The only ones allowed to live were those willing to shut up and work. Stalin is another great example of this, forcing people to do what they are not meant to do and killing them if they did not comply or wanted to do what they were best at. It's happened before, it will happen again, and it is a certain amount of time before it hits us.

Eternal recurrence is probably the term I am looking for here. Finite amount of actions, infinite time. Actions repeat themselves. Only these actions have been largely cut off from the Western World for reasons still largely unknown to myself. I just know that I wouldn't expect that to last.

WITNESS OF MOON SPLITTING
(A MIRACLE OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD)

CHAKRAWATI FARMAS -  KING OF MALABAR, INDIA

The incident relating to King Chakrawati Farmas is documented in an old manuscript in the India Office Library, London, ref: Arabic, 2807, 152-173. It was quoted in the book "Muhammad Rasulullah," by M. Hamidullah:

"There is a very old tradition in Malabar, South-West Coast of India, that Chakrawati Farmas, one of their kings, had observed the splitting of the moon, the celebrated miracle of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) at Mecca, and learning on inquiry that there was a prediction of the coming of a Messanger of God from Arabia , he appointed his son as regent and set out to meet him. He embraced Islam at the hand of the Prophet, and when returning home, at the direction of the Prophet, died at the port of Zafar, Yemen, where the tomb of the "Indian king" was piously visited for many centuries."

The old manuscript in the 'India Office Library' contains several other details about King Chakrawati Farmas and his travels.

Drifter, perhaps no one really knows what could or should be done to improve things that wouldn't rebound and make things even worse than they are now.
