If anyone is thinking of setting up a local group, it might be worthwhile checking out Community Champion funding.
Under the case studies section, it looks like there are lots of support organisations that have received funding.
Looks like it might be possible to apply for funding for a local support to cover such expenses as room hire for meetings, marketing and publicity, pay for a support worker/group leader/meeting facilitator.
Another group received funding to make a video about disability etiquette.
Another group received money for social events, like bingo nights!
There was funding for a two day disability awareness event.
Funding for an existing project to provide computers for drop-in sessions.
