All day long, off and on, I have been thinking about Variable Tweed.

The words came to me first, and after repeating them for a while I began to wonder what Variable Tweed could possibly mean.

Then I thought of a fabric woven from electro-luminiscent fibres of different hues, so that colour patterns could be programmed into it on demand.

A suit of Variable Tweed could be programmed to respond to incident light falling upon sensors woven into it, so that it perfectly matched the ambient distribution of light and colour, providing instant camouflage.

Or it could be used  to attract attention to a wearer in distress when the entire suit would flash on and off in response to heart failure etc.

Or it could just be used as an interesting textile for disco wear.

So there you have Variable Tweed.

Stella, I have been reading and writing about tweed patterns today.

I am making a wiki for knitting and crochet, and studying patterns, including tweed.

I have just started it yesterday.
coo what an amazing wiki, Amy!

Don't s'pose I'll ever get to wear Variable Tweed, but I enjoyed thinking about it.

And fancy you thinking about Tweed today too!  Perhaps the reason I came to imagine Variable tweed was its usually invariable timeless character...  the Harris patterns and so on
