Tonight while waiting to be picked by a taxi in town I saw 2 girls of the "chav" variety sitting together. They shouted over to me "got a light?" to which I responded "no". Their response: "What you being cocky for?" and then everytime I looked in their general direction they shouted asking what I was looking at.
Just thought i'd share (felt like ranting)
What's the 'chav' variety of girls?
It doesn't sound like they were making fun of you, more like they were just having a silly fit that many young NT girls have. They were probably sharing some sort of inside joke between themselves that didn't really have much to do with you at all. You just happened to be conveniently placed for their antics.
Well, these idiots are known for getting violent for no apparent reason - I have seen this happen and it ain't pretty.

"chav" is really just a convenient label, a better term might be "socially accepted criminals of low intelligence and maturity of 0 use to society" or "scum".
Hmmm... I don't really get it. I thought you were talking about the silly antics of some teenage girls, when they've had too much sugar and are in hyperactivity-mode. I can't think of an Australian equivalent for what you call 'chav' girls. Are they like hooligans?
Hooligans is another good term - trust me, this was not just "silly antics". If it was the other way round, a group of men shouting at a young girl on her own it would be classed as harrassment. I should add that this was about 10pm at night.
From what I can see, a chav/yob is no different than a sociopath.
Greetings,
In Scotland we call them 'neds' - which stands for non-educated delinquent.
I think that every last one of them should be shot. They have no intelligence, they are a drain on resources, they are a menace to society and they breed like rabbits. Their only function in society is to provide business to companies like Addidas, Kappa etc.
And anyone who thinks I'm being politically incorrect or too harsh can kiss my arse!
Greetings Wolfy,
Don't you think you are being elitist to say that 'neds', who are people who do not have your intelligence or your educational advantages, should be shot because they breed like rabbits, are a drain on resources and a menace to society? I have seen ideas like this before. A little over 60 years ago a group of people said similar things about people like us. Their program was called
Tiergartenstraße 4. I get nervous when someone says people who are different from them should be shot.
Many of these people come from homes with bad/abusive parents (there is a reason behind why 'refrigerator' parents were initially blamed for autism, it's because they actually exist), and they have no positive role models in their lives. Many have difficulties integrating into society, just as we do. They may not know how to develop relationships as a result of their experiences, there may be learning difficulties present, they may have post-traumatic stress. But I guess none of that matters to you, Wolfy. Perhaps you think we should kill these people as part of a larger effort to reinstate radical eugenic policies, since what you are suggesting has a disturbing similarity to the rhetoric of early eugenics theorists.
"Many have difficulties integrating into society, just as we do. They may not know how to develop relationships as a result of their experiences, there may be learning difficulties present, they may have post-traumatic stress."
In fairness to wolfy, he is not talking about such people at all, chavs are a social/cultural group that are known for specifically being in gangs, being aggressive as part of their lifestyle, they dominate society in some parts, which is far from not fitting in, and they have many friends, and are rarely seen alone, so they certainly know how to form strong relationships.
We have had this discussion before, and unless you are familiar with the genre that is being mentioned, its hard to understand it on context.
This might sum it up - violent, aggressive, vandal, strong drink, hostile, yob.
In some areas you have to be very cautious not to be attacked by these people just for walking down the street. Shopping centres are trying to stop gangs of them hanging around harrassing people by banning people who wear certain styles of clothing.
If you have to live in fear, it will affect how you view a group.
Wolfy is expressing his frustration from what I can see, I doubt if he has an intent to ever hurt a fly.
Greetings,
Guest - I would tend to agree with you but if we all have our character flaws and examples of irrationality then this is mine. If these people have my animosity then it is because they have earned it. My friend is scarred for life because of a completely random and unprovoked attack. He cant feel or move one side of his face because the glass from the bottle they used as a weapon severed the nerve.
What we have is an example of how a bit of 'harmless fun' as they would call it destroyed someones life. And he was one of the lucky ones. Many victims of these attacks are left brain damaged.
They have no idea about the consequences of their actions and that is something I despise in all people whether they are neds or not.

Senseless violence is disgusting. I hope the authorities are pursueing the case?
Perhaps I was a bit harsh. I'm sorry to hear your friend was hurt by these people, Wolfy. It is probably easier for me to sympathise with them, since I haven't had any similar experiences with violent people. I guess what I was trying to say is that you can't just dismiss them as violent people; there are many circumstances that have lead them to violence, and to say that we should just exterminate them is ignoring the many factors that have made them this way. To put it simply, put yourself in their shoes; ask yourself whether you think it would be more likely you would have been violent in their position.
They are violent simply because their peers are, it's a vicious cycle:
1.In the beginning perhaps these people did start to act violent due to a crap home life or other reasons.
2.Their peers start to say "hey, violence is fun"
3.These peers grow up and raise their own kids in an equally careless way
4.Gradually a culture evolves
5.Here we are today
Here's a slightly humorous site that explains more:

and yes, these people do seem to be taking over unfortunately (hence the vast social acceptance)
