In Brazil the film has been released under the title of Crazy in Love.
This is a real shame as it has negative connotations towards aspergers.

I don't think it's all that bad. 'Crazy' has different meanings to different people. Even to those who think crazy does have a negative connotation, the film's content should hopefully negate this view.
Dear, dear me, I don't like that word "crazy" one bit. There's a big difference between being eccentric and being crazy, and I really don't like seeing the word "crazy " applied to AS/autism. I wonder if the word "loucos" really has the same meaning as "crazy" or "insane"?

Loucos does mean crazy. Similar to the word sometimes used in english 'loco'.

Its an english language film, it will be dubbed into portugese most likely for the sale in Brazil.
I have been told that most Portugeses people won't read the title in the way I read it. It sounds to them more like "madly in love." So I am not sure what to do about this now. If it shows up this way in an English speaking nation, that is a different story.
The film was made in Spokane, Washington. It was financed by seliing distribution rights ahead of production in other nations. It is an English language film.

The more I hear about how this plays out in the latin languages, the less it bothers me. I see no need to boycott the movie in those nations.

I have no control but I do know that right from the beginning, the only title seen on an English script or any of the versions I have seen is MATW. It may use the other title in Germany for this reason: Next January is the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth in 1756 and Germany is being flooded with Mozart promotions.

I wouldn't have identified being too loud and making inappropriate comments as unautistic characteristics, quite to the contrary. I read in a book by Oliver Sacks (I think) that Temple Grandin has been known to have trouble knowing when her voice is too loud. My husband is normally a human fog-horn and I'm sure he's on the autistic spectrum, and my rather unusual best friend always speaks louder than everyone else. Making inappropriate comments should be a DSM diagnostic criterion for AS in my opinion.
The thing that I thought was atypical about the female lead aspie character in the movie was her job as a hairdresser, much too people-oriented and intensive in human contact for most autists to find tolerable, I would have thought.
They really should make a movie about my unique husband and our colourful marriage and our interesting offspring. There is only one movie director who is appropriate for this task; Mel Brooks.
So has anyone read the book with the same title as the movie yet? Has the book been discussed elsewhere?
