Politically, I'm an anarchist, which means that the desire for armed overthrow of the system is in my political DNA, going all the way back to the great anarchists of the Gilded Age. Realistically, I don't think that armed revolution is the way to go, especially today when we have people used to relying on government for everything. Take away the government and most people would die, end of story.

But it wasn't that long ago that most Americans lived far far away from any police force of any kind. Before 1920 most Americans in rural areas couldn't even call the sheriff if something happened. You had to handle it yourself. My grandfather told me all about living far away from the city and having to shoot hog rustlers himself. We need to get back to a society where you are your own first line of defense.

I'm convinced that smashing people into cities was a bad idea. Think about it. If you're an aspie, and you live on a farm, your aspieness really doesn't affect your ability to plant crops and maintain farm equipment and such. But put that same aspie in a suburb and force him to work in an office to eat, well there's gonna be lots of problems. In my mind's eye, the world would be organized according to anarchist principles, meaning that everybody would have a role to play in society. If we don't do this, we risk alienating millions of people and creating an underclass that has nothing to lose by smashing the system. And usually smashing the system results in civil war and famine and other nasties. I would much rather ease into a new world and ease the old one out rather than burn skyscrapers and hang 4 NTs from every streetlight.

The boomers have a lot of fear right now because a new world is being born, and they no longer fit. I don't think that aspies need to revolt, unless it's a "silent revolt" where we gradually get NTs accustomed to neurodiversity so that the fear sirens don't go off, and one day it's normal to see someone hand stimming while walking down the street and nobody cares. Your cubicle mate rocks in his chair all the time, so what? That would be better than being hunted along the tracks from Sacramento to Ogden.
